Willed possible antique, out of state.

One of my best friend's Father recently passed away & he's left me an original 1873 Trapdoor Springfield in his will.

We'll be spreading his ashes this July & I'm supposed to pick the rifle up at the same time.

Unfortunately, he lived in Florida & I'm not conversant on the legality of the transfer. Being that it's a breech loading gun, I was assuming that it's have to be transferred through an ffl, but I'm thinking that due to the age that an FFL transfer may not be required. The fact that it's a Willed item may also affect things.

Can anyone tell me how I should proceed please?

As it was manufactured before 1899 it is an antique and therefore FFL regulations do not apply.  Pick it up while you are there and bring it home.

Doesn't even matter about the antique part, any non-NFA firearm is legit to transfer interstate via willed bequest or even intestate succession, no FFL required. Specific exception iterated in US 18 922.
