All:

The Tennessee 4-H Shooting Sports program will be conducting training for new instructors in January and February.

The January training will be in Milan and cover rifle, shotgun, and archery disciplines. The dates are Jan. 30 and 31.

The February trainng will be in Columbia and cover hunting, archery, rifle, shotgun, and muzzleloader. The dates are Feb. 27 and 28.

More information is available at http://www.utextension.utk.edu/4H/shootingsports/index.htm.

This is a GREAT way to get involved in youth shooting sports, and I highly recommend it. In all honesty, it is one of the most rewarding things I've ever done.

Thanks.

I'm glad to hear that 4H still teaches marksmanship. I still remember going to 4H camp in the summer and shooting little bolt action .22's.

And they still use that kind of .22 bolt action - had them in our instructor training in Columbia last year.

Edited the above post to reflect that archery was added for Milan today.

And by the way, the food they served us at Columbia was outstanding: steak on Friday night, country breakfast on Saturday morning, and barbeque for lunch Saturday. Talk about not being able to get up from prone position!

All:

If you interested in the training Feb. 27-28 in Columbia, your registration is due by this Friday, Feb. 13th.

Please go to http://www.utextension.utk.edu/4H/shootingsports/index.htm, scroll down to "Volunteer Instructors" and click on the link there to open up the registration form.

Please PM me if you have any questions or comments about the program.

And, remember, if some of us don't get more involved in training young people in the shooting sports, those sports will be gone in the future.

Thanks.
