Those look like Correct Grade or better. You might pay a little less at CMP, but not a lot less.

I used to live in Cincinnati and have spent a lot of $$$$ at AIM. They are fantastic to deal with. But, if I had the $$$ and was in the market for a Garand, I'd drive down to the CMP south and pick it out and get some ammo while I was there. It is all about the adventure isn't it??

why not try CMP to save a few dollars, actually a few hundred dollars.

Well, there's always the security of being able to pick out your rifle. That security is worth different amounts to different people. Fewer hoops to jump through as well.

Too bad they don't put the first couple of digits from the S/N in the ads so you can tell approx. what year they were made.

If you look at the pictures they post for each rifle they show the first 3 or 4 numbers for each one.

I picked out a very nice Service Grade SA Garand at the Garand Collectors Assoc. show, where CMP had a few tables. Will try to post pics...

You can go to the CMP, you don't have to just mail order. I can't speak as to the South store but at the North you have racks and racks to pick from.

Forgive my ignorance... but dont you have to be apart of a 'approved shooting club' in order to purchase from the CMP?

Yes but you can join some clubs online. It takes about $30 to join an approved shooting club. I believe there is also a marksmanship requirement -- but a C&R FFL or a HCP are enough for CMP.

What are these things worth these days ? I inherited a nice one 20 years ago. I am almost ashamed to say that I have never shot it. I guess it is a safe queen...LOL.

I went and picked out all mine.

Don't you have to be a member of a group to buy from CMP? I'd love to drive down and pick out a Garand but am not sure if I can just walk in or not...

Your question was answered a few posts above yours but yes, you have to be a member of a group, but there are a few that are cheap and easy to join online.
