Need some help

Recommended Posts

Hi guys I'm new to the forum and need a little assistance. I just bought a LR-308 which is my first AR-10. I was planning to install a free float rail but I can't for the life of me get the stock flash hider off. I have the correct wrench but don't have a vise or vise block (currently in Nashville in an apartment for work). I would be forever grateful if someone in the Nashville area could help me get this flash hider off. Thanks!

Make sure it's not soldered or pinned (most aren't) but could also be rocksett. I have never had to remove on with rocksett, but I am to the understanding that heat helps.

Is it soldered or pinned?  If soldered, you should see a bit of overflow at the base of the threads. In which case, you'll need to put a torch to it to get it off.

Rocksett is impervious to heat .. up to about 2000 degrees ...  it should come off .. it's going to pop loose if you can get enough torque on it ..

what length is your barrel?  if it's 16" total with the compensator it very well may be pinned and welded.
