Trump Gonna Cough Up the 1911's?

Recommended Posts

All it takes is a phone call to Sec. of Army to get things rolling.

edit: I see new one hasn't been confirmed, matter of fact seems to be a bit of hissy fit between Trump and Mattis about who it will be.

But there is an Acting one, so he could get it going I guess.

If memory serves, an acting Secretary has the same legal authority, though they do tend to punt as much as possible until an appointment is confirmed and in the office.  Though this would be a very low priority indeed.

Even if this gets put on the to-do list, the bigger issue will be over who pays for it.  Guarantee that DoD doesn't want to eat the operations costs and without an order to make it happen out of their existing funds, would only be as cooperative as opening the arms room door and filling out some paperwork to make a transfer happen.

I'm hoping for more than just 1911's. Maybe we can get back all the firearms we gave to S. Korea. I'm still in need of an M1 carbine among other US military rifles in my collection. I just wish I had my Great Grandfather's 1911 from WW1. Unfortunately, it was destroyed in a fire about 10 years ago at my Uncle's farm while he was deployed. This administration will be our best bet and it's still early plus he has a lot on his plate as it is.

That's essentially all DoD has to do, they are earmarked for CMP to handle everything else.

At least there isn't the worry that they will be destroyed.   I don't doubt they will be released but it's probably going to take a bit while the more important issues are addressed.
