I currently have a MTAC IWB holster for my Emp 1911. I like this holster alot. It is comfortable & does exactly what it is meant to do. however Im also wanting a OWB holster. Im really considering the

Thunderbird defender from KD holsters. This would be a multi purpose holster. It OWB or IWB. Has anyone here had this particular holster? Would I be better off getting a owb holster only? Just really wondering if the mulitpurpose holster would hold up as well as 1 of the dedicated types. Below is a link to the Thunderbird.

No personal hands on, but have seen quite a few folks on other forums post their kudos for the various KD models. The Thunderbird does indeed look like a good way to go for both types of carry.

I'll usually throw in a plug for D.M.Bullard. Well, guess I just did, he has one holster touted for both IWB/OWB, but both ways use the belt clips, and I do believe I like the idea of the belt slits on the Thunderbird better for OWB.

I've never read anything about any lack of durability regarding the KD line.

I don't much care for that overlay on the Thunderbird, though. I understand it's to make throat stay open, but also would add thickness for IWB. If I were going to buy it, I'd consider asking the guy if he'd make it without it.
