I saw that yesterday.  I had not realized that they had imposed those new fines for illegally taken deer.  That can add up fast.

I go out of my way to ensure without a doubt that I am in compliance with game laws and always have, so I have no tolerance for poachers. I applaud TWRA for this one. It seems they did good...

While this case, if what was written is true, seems to be a cut and dry case of poaching, I worry that bigger fines may mean that TWRA agents worry more about fines than actually protecting wildlife.  But to blatantly shoot a deer on someone else's property (across a road?), then drive onto said property is just asking for it.
