Hunting Television Shows

What are some of your favorite hunting shows on television? I pretty much like any hunting show on the Outdoor Channel. Just looking to see what TNG memebers enjoy watching and I'll add it to the DVR to check it out.

Jim Shockey's Hunting Adventures, Realtree Roadtrips, and anything Will Primos puts out. Those are my favorites. If given the chance, I would most love to share a hunt camp with Jim Shockey and (laugh if you will) Ted Nugent. Jim is the real deal, and Uncle Ted is a "passionate character" (translation... borderline psychopath--in a good way!)

Anyone who wouldn't hang out with Ted Nugent would be missing out on a great story.

I've seen some Realtree Roadtrips and liked those. I'll dig up some Jim Shockey.

Thanks!

OK, while we are on this subject... I have never hunted, but I wanna, and will this week with my neighbor.

My question is this:

I have been watching a lot of shows recently...what has me confused is, why is it that AFTER they take down the deer, why do they celebrate in whisper? I mean, deers gone man dont think it can hear you...

seriously, what am I missing?

the reason is that sometimes especially when bow hunting is a deer will lay down and expire close to the stand if there is a noise or you start trailling immediately you may jump them up and make the tracking job a whole heck of a lot harder.

Jim Shockey,Road Trips,Real Tree and Ted.

Jim Shockey is hard to book a trip with.

I tried to book a Moose hunt last year,I couldnt get an exact price but the ball park was 20k and would not be able to go until 2010.The 50% deposit turned me off because of the 2 year wait.

The $20k didn't turn you off?!

Per advice in this thread I tuned in to a Jim Shockey show. It was good.

Awesome video! Makes we want to go fire up Halo on the 360 and do some hunting... I got a good laugh from it!

I enjoy watching "Predator Quest" on the Sportsman's Channel. I have hunted a lot of deer and ducks, but I want to get into some coyotes and bobcats. I hadn't thought much about hunting predators until I started watching this show. Now I"m hooked.

I like Tred Barta's show because it's different from all other shows I've seen. He truly does it the hard way. It's amazing he was able to shoot pheasants with his long bow. Of course it took him many shots, but he didn't give up.

I love hunting and hunt just about everything. Have no problem with my grandchildren watching a hunting show while they are here, but I, myself, find most of them to be a bit distasteful, so therefore, I choose not to watch them. I'm not sure if it is just the show itself, or the attitude of the host...I just don't care to see them.

It would depend on where it is and exactly what is included. Can you get it for less? Absolutely. With as good a guide? You bet. Do you pay a bit of a premium to hunt with him? Yep.

But all in all probably not exorbitantly high. When buying hunts it is very easy to miss a lot of fine details thinking you are getting a great hunt when in the end you could find that you pay more than some which on the surface seem to be far more.
