Well, with the SR 9, I'm thinking... what if Ruger did a version in .45 ACP, that would use standard 1911 mags? I think THAT would be a great next step!

I have to agree, my wife got me the SR 9 (post recall) for Christmas. I have put 1000 round down range with out any malfunction. It is the first 9mm that I have owned. I have always been partial to the .45 . If Ruger came out with a SR 45 I would be first in line. I don't know about the 1911 mags. I would like to have a mag with a little more capacity. The SR 9 mag hold 17 and that makes it a lot of fun @ the range.

I also have the Ruger P345, and it's built like a tank. The two gun are not at all alike , other than the annoying mag disconnect safety feature and the tac rail that is a great feature. I am thinking of selling it for something that holds a few more rounds, maybe the XD.

Ya know when I was deciding between the M&P and the SR9, I wish you guys had been around! I might have gone with the SR9. That being said, I'm not a huge fan of the .45 but I might if it were in the SR package. From what I'm told the SR already has a tendency for the muzzle to push rather than flip so I could see the .45 matching very well to the design characteristics of the SR platform. That with the nice ergos, it just may be the plastic 1911 everyone seems to be after.
