Now this is embarrassing

Hmm. I had an incident with the very first AR i put together. I had forgotten to put the buffer 'stop' plug into the lower receiver and then followed to assemble the upper to the lower. At that moment i had also forgotten to put the bolt and charging handle back into said upper and the buffer and buffer spring lodged itself into the chamber. That was fun.

Update time. I finally had time to mess with my XD45 again. I started tapping on the rear of the slide with a 16oz rubber mallet. After slowly ramping up the force the slide started moving forward again a bit at a time. I expected to be there a while, slowly moving it forward. Instead, once it actually began to move forward it took maybe 6 more whacks and suddenly the entire slide came right off the front.

I'm hoping to get to the range tomorrow to test out the Sub2K I bought from someone on the classifieds here recently. I guess I'll take the XD with me just to be sure all is well.

Thanks again for the advice and information.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has done that! did it on my first build. didn't forget to put the stopper in just didn't get the buffer tube on it enough. I actually did it twice in a row!:screwy:

That, and I'll bet from now on as soon as I feel a bit too much resistance when pushing back I'll stop and check.

Btw, they say that pressing down on the chamber part of barrel when sliding the slide back on will sometimes do the lockup also, even if spring is in correctly.
