lol.. now comcast is saying that you are not allowed to have gigabit service and cable tv on the same account because you will not get the advertised speeds.  Will keep updating here for the good laughs.

maybe that's why i have two accounts and they won't let me close one of them? :)

It's what they've been offering on their website.

470 1 Gigabit $10 rental for router and modem, and then taxes.

It'll be $80 something after taxes.

I'm a bit jealous. This is what I pay $80 a month for out here in Crockett County.

Nah, it's just a big corporation that likes to tell people different stuff because no one actually knows what the policies are.

Yeah. I'm just poking fun at my own situation. Humor makes the pain go away.[emoji1]

Wish I could laugh, think I royally screwed myself seeking this 1gig thing.  My internet runs slower than before, my bill is all jacked up now and they are trying to charge me for an install they told me was free (making them pull the recording on that one), the installer thought my computer was a router and that the monitors just magically worked without being hooked up to anything.  The next person tells me I can't have cable TV and internet, and half a dozen other "technicians" tell me that everything is perfect on their side, it's all of my equipment that is messed up, even though the same equipment was running faster prior to the install.

They're coming back out again on Friday to look at it, if they can't fix it on that day, I'm just going to make them take back the stuff, get out of the contract (since they can't provide the service) and go back to the $110/month by month plan.

this is why my rule #1 with comcast is always "Never change your plan".

Yikes! There is internet service still that slow?

Seriously, there is nothing better out there in your area?

Check AT&T, Comcast, etc.

In theory we pay for 10mbs service, the highest available from our provider. We have a county run monopoly out here. Phone service is provided by the county and so is the internet. Nobody else is allowed to run lines in the ground. Our only other options are over the air. So, yeah. It sucks. A lot.

I'm getting 90.12 and 12.16 from Comcast.  But only after arguing with them for over a year about the 30 i was getting before.  They rented me a modem some time ago, and then sent me a ad saying I was getting up to xx speed.  I wasnt and when I questioned them, of course they said "oh thats UP TO, and it must be your equipment that isn't good.  If you buy the next higher package you can get up to XXX speed.  Did some research and discovered they rented me a modem(DOCSIS 2) that wasnt capable of XX speed, much less XXX.  Buying a higher cost package would not have helped one bit, but they insisted that is what was necessary. I then bought my own DOCSIS 3 modem that WAS capable of the higher speeds.  It iincreased some but not a great deal, still far short of their promise.   After repeated calls over a year, I FINALLY talked to a tech who knew what be was doing.  He made some adjustments in my account to reflect that i had a modem capable of those speeds and right then I started getting 89-90 speeds.  Thanks for that, but COMCASt sucks and lies mostly.  I STILL think I should be getting faster speeds, lol.  Im paying for Blst and they say up to 150.   Well Im running a pretty fast computer i7, and 16 GB RAM and a DOCSIS 3 modem...

An actual line tech came out today, instead of a modem installer/minimum wage script reader, knew there was something wrong with the line after 5 minutes. Said another connection a few hundred feet down the line was causing interference.

Bah comcast... never make a change to your plan.

So they told me free install, then charged me $60 for it.  I called and had them review the tape where the guy told me it was free install, they did and then credited my account $20 (WTF?).  Called in today to get a prorated discount since the 1gig was down for about 10 days.  Even though it was never turned on full speed, they said they can only prorate it from the time I called in, even though the technician put in a ticket the same day and said it wasn't working right (WTF?).  Obviously getting angry, I asked them to pull the initial sales call and listen to it because I wasn't accepting a partial refund.  They did, and guess what *poof* the recording was no longer in their system.  I said ok no problem, all of my calls are recorded, where can I email you a copy of the audio?  They wouldn't accept it...

At that point I was done with them and said ok you got a 30 day money back guarantee on upgrades, I want to roll back to my old plan and cancel this gigabit stuff.  She actually told me "you agreed to a 3 year term on your call with the salesman" I was like you lying piece of crap, you just told me there was no audio of the call, now you're saying you have audio of me agreeing to a contract on that same call that doesn't exist. W T F Go ahead and run this call up to your boss because I don't deal with liars.

Anyways, after 90 minutes on the phone and dealing with a plethora of people that shouldn't be allowed to consume air without paying a tax, all my stuff was rolled back to the 300meg 110/month plan. Now that they have fixed the line issues, I've got a 30mb upload with my old stuff, so I'm good to go!  Can't wait to see what kind of sorcery is coming on the next bill though.  I will never touch the plan again unless a new carrier comes in the area.
