Jan.3rd Deer hunting sucked

Recommended Posts

A good friend and myself took to my favorite ground blind Saturday morning. On the way into the land a rabbit was in the road. Walking to the blind, a Turkey was roosted in the tree aboe my blind. And we saw some FAT squirrels......but that was it.

I never put a jacket on, cause it wasn't cold enough for it. Then it rained hard for about 2 mins, at 8:30, and I get wet and then a little chilly. So we left out of the woods between 9:30 and 10:00.

On our way home on highway 64, we saw 23 empty four weelers, and the check out station in Whiteville only had one car in front of it...so I am thinking not many people had a good morning of hunting.

Yeah, woods were dead around me...no deer romance going on at all.

I may pop a doe or 2. Get a little more meat. I'm not good enough to hunt bucks without a rut to help me out.

Got a good doe on Tuesday and went back out on Thursday and nothing....actually scouted some land I have access to but haven't hunted yet this year...spooked up another doe (this was on the 2nd)...other than that, I have seen little if any movement over the past weekend. Hopefully with the front moving through and the drop in the temps...the last week to stock the freezer will be good.....good luck to all!
