Western Arms Corporation Long Range Double Shotgun

Over the holiday  I got to look over some of my grandfather's guns that my Dad has. He wanted me to look this one up. 

It is a Western Arms Corp. Long Range Double. The last image is from the 2010 Standard Catalog of Firearms.

I wondered if anyone had anymore info. I could not find a serial number on any of the surfaces without disassembling it.

I told him I would bring it with me for better inspection, but he declined. Lol

Neat.  I can guarantee you there is no serial number on it, so there is no need to disassemble.  Serial numbers were not required before 1968 and many, many old guns simply do not have them.

I always think it odd that '68 is the same year Seat belts were required in cars.

I'm somewhat of an Ithaca buff, but that's a new one on me! It appears to be in very fine condition.

Yeah my grandfather was a stickler for keeping things in order. I had never heard the name either. I know a lot of companies used to do that stuff though. Make a "value line" under a different name.

Dad said it had probably not been hunted with since before I was born. I am betting that was the last time it was shot too.

He had a bunch of old ones, but I had limited time for pics.

These old box lock doubles look a lot alike, I have my Fathers Savage/Fox model B in sixteen ga. If this one is like my Fox there will be some markings on the action under the barrels. Look for charts on line for Western, and Savage as they made Model B's for different company's. These can tell you when it was made. I used charts from Savage to tell mine was made in 1960. WTH.
