Hodgdon CFE BLK

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Anyone seen this powder yet? I read about it on the national forum a few weeks ago and then picked up the 2017 Hodgdon annual two days ago which has data for the new powder.

I don't shoot .300 Blackout, but this powder is tailor made for it. Also suitable for several other calibers and the one that interests me is for 6.8. I currently load using AA2200 but am eager to get a pound of CFE BLK and compare the two loads.

Supposed to be available in January so may be showing up on shelves very soon.

I have a friend who has tried it in a 300 BLK and he said he didn't like it.

I doubt it does ANYTHING better than what is currently on the market. But hey, it is good to have choices.

For anyone trying to figure out a good 300 Blackout powder IMR 4227 is about as good as it gets. It works great with subsonic and supersonic loads.

I keep hearing this about 4227, I need to get some to try. But I am sitting on about 8# of 1680, and in 300blk subs my stash will last me quite a while fortunately or unfortunately however you look at it.
