Got the flu

Started Saturday, been out of commission since Monday.

Have (had?) Some deals I think I could have closed for a decent year end finish.

Since there is not much that can be done to expedite the process, would you all care to pray for some healing? I don't usually subscribe to faith healing, but this really sucks.

Will do!

I got hit with a brutal head cold on Christmas day. Fever, wattery eyes, sore throat, headache, snot, the works. I went to bed Christmas night and got up on Tuesday. I'm feeling much better but still congested. Hope you feel better. It does suck... especially on a weekend holiday.

My wife has had something since the 21st of December, still has it but it seems to be winding down.

Good thoughts and prayers for you.

Well...just to add to the misery list, I've had something...cold, sinus crap, etc. since mid December. It's better, but still have headache, drainage, and sneezing.

We've been seeing a lot of viral respiratory illnesses, along with viral GI illnesses, at work the past several weeks...but only a few positive flu cases...they all suck for those that have them!

Positive thoughts and Prayers for you GTG! Hang tough my friend. It will pass...hopefully sooner rather than later brother.

Glad your feeling a little better GTG. I began feeling crappy the Sunday before Christmas with sore throat, raw chest, runny nose, chest congestion, and coughing and I am just now beginning to feel somewhat better. Beginning to get some strenght back and feeling like doing anything except sitting around resting. Doctor told me once I am over this I need to get a Pnemonia Shot. Got Flu shot back in November.

Got any more info on the viral respiratory illnesses? I think I'm battling that. Went around with the PACs in my doc's office yesterday.

Flu symptoms are gone, at UT ER  right now for crippling abdominal pain

Diverticulitis...With a perforation

Looks like I'll be here a few days

I fired back a little too quick. I missed the pain part.

I am officially old, the two consulting surgeons look as young as Doogie Howser

I know I shouldn't laugh given your condition but that's some funny stuff right there. I feel that way about most people I meet these days. Get well soon.

Some of us are at the age that all people look younger than us.

Yeah...they are remarkably communicable! I was awakened last night with my throat on fire, headache and fever. I probably wash my hands 50-60 times a day and wear gloves with patient contact...but some adults still cough right in your face!

With viral illnesses, such as this crap I caught, all you can do is treat the symptoms, stay hydrated, isolate yourself from others and ride it out. In my case ibuprofen or naproxen, OTC sinus meds and good old Berkey water and lots of it!

If a person takes blood pressure meds (I don't) make sure if you use OTC meds they are "HBP" friendly...they should be labeled so.

And be patient, and Good Luck! Any specific questions just ask. I'll help as I can.

Holy Cow Brother! Darn! I hate to hear this.

Call me or PM if there's anything I can do...maybe text...I've developed laryngitis through the night...

Diverticulitis is rough any day, perforation or bleeding = double rough!

Prayers out my friend.

My symptoms are mild except for shortness of breath and some congestion. Can't take nsaids right now because of a bout with ITP. Anyway, I think it may be going away slowly.

I've cared for numerous patients with ITP back in my ICU days (decades). Sorry to hear this.

You make a good point Mike. All medicines are essentially poisons. (Risk benefit ratio thing). Many illnesses preclude medications that are common OTC preparations. Knowledge about a person's own conditions and the effects of medications on those states are necessary. I see the end effect of this lack of knowledge more than I'd like. Doctor's and Nurses need to do a better job of "teaching" than they usually do.

Hope you feel better soon.

I think I am one of the lucky ones (with good hematologists). Platelets have been in the normal range for 4 weeks without meds. I'm hoping that's over for good.

Good gracious! This will be a holiday season to remember. Surely they'll get you back on your feet soon.

Gave up whiskey and aspirin on the same night a few years ago with a GI bleed. Made the ER look like a cheap horror movie, and wound up in ICU.
