Beretta 92 question

If you like the size and feel of a Beretta you should keep your eyes open for a D model. They make them in several flavors, 92, Cougar, PX4 or any D model. They have one of the smoothest, cleanest DA trigger I have ever felt. It is like shooting a good revolver and I really like the fact there is no safety and each trigger pull is the same. Another advantage is that they usually sell for a lot less as they are not popular. I picked up a Cougar 8000D a while back for next to nothing LNIB, dopey me got a itch for something else and I sold it. Next time, just wait till next time.

Let me preface this post with a situation report. I've been fighting with an oracle database for ... over 18 hours now. I came here to try and get away from it for a bit to hopefully have an epiphany on the issue. As such, my dendrites may not be firing 100% for this post ... I hope it makes sense.

If you have a 92fs i suggest you don't carry it "cocked and locked". You should look at a 92/96 G (no safety, has a decocker) or a D (DA only). I carry my two berettas with full mags and one in the chamber and safety on. every trip to the range i practice concealed draw, release safety, and DA fire with SA followup. I'm just not comfortable yet going non-safety.

Alternatively you can put a 'D' spring in your FS, I did it with mine (and I saw someone else mention it above). From Dave Olhasso, it's a great and easy mod. Reduced my trigger lb pull signifigantly and i've had no misfires in over 1200 rounds.

I also mention the G or D models because you said it was a police trade in, and I'm surprised its a FS. I figured most/all were D or Gs.

If you like the 92 frame, I suggest you look at the Beretta 8000 series mini cougar or the mini versions of the 92 (compact). The 92 compact isn't really CC though, I suggest the 8000, 8040, or 8045 mini cougar. I've carried the 8045 mini for over a year, and only carry my full frame 92fs when I want to work out my back and get some wear on the miami classic holster (ie: deep winter).

Again, I apologize if this rambled and was all over the place.

If you were going to go that route, I'd go Stoeger and save a few Benjamins.

True, the Stoegers are the Beretta molds so they are pretty much identical. Although i've had good luck with new (to me) beretta cougars and haven't seen Stoegers in the wild (maybe i've just not been looking for them though).
