Back in my younger years I collected a little bit one of everything.

As I aged I have gravitated towards the rule of three; more with an eye towards defense and survival.

3 each: primary handguns- in my case M9/92FS. Plenty of mags.

3 each: backup handguns in same caliber as primary

same with rifles and shotguns. Some rifles I have more than three..

When I first started buying/collecting I was all over the place, I had pistols in .38 .357 9mm .40 .45 .22 and even a little .25acp

Now, I do have 2 Glock 17s and 2 Glock 19s

But all my firearms now are 9mm, 5.56, .308, and 12ga thats it, thats all I'll buy

I have caliber consolidated too, I have three Glock 17's and that's it for pistols.

The idea is that the rest of my non-gun enthusiast family members will be able to pick one up if necessary and have absolute familiarity with them, same ammo and mags, no confusion.

However, I have a strong desire for a Browning Hi-Power, Ruger SR1911 and a 5.5" bbl Ruger Vaquero in .45 Colt, so there goes that......

I'm a hoarder of all things firearm and at this stage have a huge range of calibers and yes duplicates of many. I have a new son in law who loves guns and both my daughters are very well trained. I can now begin sharing with them. Has been my plan for many years.
