Hello from Washington State

Let me begin by saying that my Wife and I have both fed up with and ready to leave Washington State. As I'm sure you all know we are not alone and have had enough of the libtards and millionaire meddlers that are destroying the beautiful PNW. We are both NRA Life Members and tend to be somewhat conservative. We cherish our gun rights and our Constitution, all of which are not real popular beliefs in our area. We are not sure yet where we want to go but unfortunately no matter how hard we try our leglislature has been for the most part "bought & paid for" so it is a loosing battle and we are rapidly loosing our Constitutional freedoms here in the West. We are not sure if Tennessee is the place for us yet but you certainly have a beautiful State. We've been looking in White County and so far what we've seen there looks beautiful. If we do make the move we are definitely not looking to "change things" like the kalifornians have done here, but would rather assimilate and learn to be productive members of a Society we are are loosing here. Anyhow........enough of that. I'm looking forward to learning more about Tennessee............thanks for letting me rant........

Thank you all for the welcome. I thought I should mention that the 2nd Amendment folks in Washington and Oregon are some of the finest I've ever met. I just can't take the constant barrage of gun hating laws that are being paid for by Bloomberg and written into law by his boot licking lackeys in Olympia and then passed into law by the Starbucks crowd in Seattle. The biggest portion of the State hates what is going on but we cant stop the money machine. I would love to live among people that think and dream of freedom and a great United States again. We had that for a long time here but we sold it along with our souls to the highest bidders...........what a shame

They start out small, taking positions no one else wants, school board.........etc., and before you know it they have a voting block you can't outvote. It all seems so "common sense"......at first.

Moved from Western NY 18 months ago. The final blow for me was the last governor race in NY. We had a good candidate that pushed the friend of the 2nd Amendment message. The political pro gun group that I belonged did lots of pushing to get the votes out, even had a big electronic billboard in Albany for months leading up to the election. We ran the number, if just the gun owners came out in force we could get a new governor. Our candidate did much like Trump and took 95% of the land mass but lost to the big city areas. We just could not get the gun people out in large enough numbers to overcome the big city vote. Pretty much decided I couldn't take it anymore and started looking. I figured if the unheard masses couldn't at least vote I wasn't going to kill myself fighting for them anymore. Add in high taxes and weather it was an easy decision. Felt a little guilty taking 2 conservative votes out of state but sometimes you have to look out for yourself.

If such things matter to you and the wife for personal or medical reasons, I'd recommend researching the differences in temperatures during the summer.  Winter lows are also a bit different.

I appreciate the heads up on the weather.......we were just "iced in" for 3 days and it looks like we will be again by the weekend. We are fairly remote and live on acreage on a fairly steep and narrow converted "logging road". Our longest stretch without power or being able to get to "town" in the last 20+ years was 10days. We are pretty self sufficient and have learned, at times the hard way, to "be prepared". I think the biggest difference might be in the summer when you seem to have more humidity but as far as heat we can be in the 90's-100's for weeks. We also have family in SC and Ga so we won't be totally naive. Your point is well taken and appreciated.........definitely a consideration. Thank you.

Welcome fellow refugee! We moved here 26 months ago from Ulster county NY for exactly the same reasons. Being mountain folks, I needed elevation and find the 2000' elevation of the Cumberland plateau just right. Up to 8 deg. cooler than Cookeville in mid summer and same for winter.  The elevation keeps the humidity to a bearable level. Here in Crossville, one third of the population moved here since 2000 so I have had zero kick back unlike some other areas you may encounter regardless of your way of thinking. All the gun lovers here at our new Church have all been outstanding First Rate Americans! God... how we Love "This" country. The worst thing is a lot of folks cant imagine how bad the libs have destroyed the other parts of our Nation. Credit must be given to the TN native forefathers for their social beliefs. Otherwise TN would not be the TN we can enjoy today as newbs. Welcome!

Thanks "X", It will be a new experience for us to be the "newbies" ........... not really looking forward to that but we want to become part of things, not change them. Thats one thing I've never understood about the Kalifornians ........... if things were so great in your state why are you here? Washington used to be a beautiful place to live until people moved in to help us "fix things"............we will change ourselves as needed to become part of Tennessee not try to change Tennessee to be "a better place"

Moved to TN 10 years ago. Formerly, MI, ID, and FL. Libs are screwing up ID, MT, WY. Like east TN for lack of taxes and good people. Middle TN is growing, but even it is being infiltrated with Muslims and libs.
