Wow... just, wow...

Killed a guy over beer & ball-caps, in the absence of any threat to life or limb :P

I too, hope justice is served... Sadly, one of the criminals is still just as dead, having had no opportunity for a trial.

This is not how I want to be thought of.

I didn't see in the article where they said he had a CCW. As a matter of fact, I don't even know if he could get one. But there's not enough information as to whether he was permit holder or not to make any assumptions. The article didn't make it clear as to who had the extensive criminal history.

Maybe he didnt, which would make more sense.

This is what I tell people will get you in trouble, running after the guy and then shooting him. If he had shot him in the store he might have had a better chance to get away with it.

But let's see whether he beats this one. People here get ugly over crime and might be inclined to let him go.

The Feint

This shooting described by the writer has little or nothing to do with the rest of the gun-bashing, self defense denying article. The laws that this writer is so obviously concerned about deals with legal self-defense and according to the information provided by the writer to support his case that these laws will cause blood to run from the door steps of Nashville, this guy's case certainly doesen't even come close to withstanding scrutiny through the legal lense. It is apparantly crystal clear in the lense of the left wing-liberal rag otherwise known as the Tennessean but the law is the law. In this case as it is presented, for those that know the facts show that:

  1. There was no fear of death
  2. There was no fear of serious bodily injury
  3. The man was fleeing the scene and therefor was no threat.
  4. This was a commercial enterprise and not a domicile or to use the Tennessean's own word, "dwelling".

Bottom line is (by the information provided in the paper) they are both criminals. With the qualifications that Huddleston is dead, Bilbrey is a murderer and it sucks to be either one of them (especially Huddleston). It should be "25 to life" for you Mr. Bilbry.

Of course who knows? After all, the only info is provided by the writer and the writer of this article used what they hoped would be a shocking case to further their actual agenda. In other words was it "the whole truth and nothing but the truth"? I would submit that that would be a questionable assumption.

The Real Impetus for this Article

This piece was nothing more than an attempt to derail pending firearms legislation. They even line up a a Nashville defense lawyer who describes himself as a strong supporter of gun owners' rights and presumably a friend of gun owners to talk about how much more death will be visited on the good citizens of Nashville and the state. I wonder where they found this guy. At the Criminal Justice Detention Center Intake office on Second Avenue North looking for his next meal ticket?
