Finally finished my photography light box. So what better way to test it then with some Firearms.

A week ago I picked up this Charles Daly 1911 for next to nothing. I have put a couple hundred rounds through it with no problems but heavy recoil. Since then I have installed a spring buffer and a Wolff 18lb spring. Will be testing this weekend to see if it helped.

Here you guys go. It is a decent sized card board box I got something shipped to me in. I cut the top and sides out leaving a 1.5 inch edge. I covered the holes with Freezer paper. On the inside I got a piece of poster board and cut it to fit. I left the flaps on the front to keep the lights out of my eyes but looks like it helps keep it off the camera too. The lights are some used studio lights I picked up from a friend. The two on the sides are 250 watt each and the top one is 500.I have seen people use flood lights from Lowes/Home Depot, which is what I have to use, but bought these before I finished the box. Now for pics.

Inspiration for these pics came from Pinmaster post. By the way I really liked your back ground in yours. That will be one of my projects to try after the models and guns project is done.

This is probably my must prized gun. It was my Fathers and it is a 1956 build. It could use some TLC but this is how it was when I inherited it 20 years ago and is how I like it. Worn and used.

A Canon 30D with a Canon Nifty 50 F1.8 and 430ex flash with a Stoffen Defuser. I need to set my white balance on the thing. Been using Auto and is really showing in the pics. Still trying to master all this. Don't know if I like them better with or without the flash. Got to do some testing.

Now if I can find another model for the other project. The one I was going to use got herself knocked up, plus the husband was not to keen on the idea anyway.

Why is it that every gun owner I have ever met, including myself, is a photographer. :D

Because we are all closet pornographers. And since we can't take pictures of lots of naked ladies, we just do the next best thing. Gun Pr0n! :poop:

Thanks for the light box idea Verne.

I was looking for a Charles Daly 1911 for next to nothing myself but had to settle for a RIA tactical.

Where do you guys find these Next to Nothing deals?

A buddy of mine decided he wanted a Kimber so this one had to go. He told be a price that seemed crazy, even asked him about it, and he said it picked it up at an estate auction cheap. Heck he even made a few bucks off me.
