Equipment Review- Reflectix insulation

Recommended Posts

So I got me a used travel trailer with AC and heat to replace my older one without AC, or john.  The trailer is a hybrid, it has hard sides but two ends also have large doors that open to setup the tents.  When shopping around, I decided on this type to reduce the size of the trailer while hauling and still having the room when I arrive.  It needed some maintenance and while researching I came across a few articles with tips to use Reflectix to insulate the tent windows and floor.  I got a large roll and did as instructed, but had alot left over so decided to do my hunting stand as well.  Best thing I've done in awhile, the insulation helps retain the heat quite well and with the portable little buddy heater I was quite comfortable in 24deg weather.  The only downside is that when it heats up or cools down it sounds like you are in a bowl of Rice Krispies.  They're not too loud though so I don't think the deer will notice.  They are like bubble wrap but made of aluminum, so are fragile but more flexible than cooking aluminum.  It's real reflective though, so just did about 4', size of roll, and covered over the top foot or so (3' from the top with black closed cell foam board so as not to have contrast through the windows.  Will update when I try out the TT tents.
