ar15 firing on trigger release and pull

Not that it isn't fun and all.. but that adams arms AR I got fires on trigger release and trigger pull.  Could be an issue if you're off the target when letting off the trigger.  Am guessing it should probably go in for warranty?  Unless someone could point me in the direction of a quick fix.

Are you it doesn't have an after market binary trigger that's designed to fire on pull and release?  I think Franklin Armory makes a binary trigger that functions as you've described.

Factory gun? Is the disconnector spring in upside down? Scratch this. The disconnector is grabbing or it wouldn't release when you let out on the trigger. May just be a bad fire control part

@MP5_Rizzo It's 100% factory, just picked it up from royal range two weeks ago as a beater.  I'll check out the disconnector spring this afternoon, thanks @mikegideon

Probably cheaper to buy a new FCG than send it back. And if you want I can give it a once over as well as do your trigger for you, after it is working correctly.

What is likely the problem is there is not enough engagement between the hammer and trigger. I have seen some "budget" triggers that do not have the nose of the trigger machined. They are as cast and look similar but they act exactly like you are describing. When you release the trigger enough for the hammer to fall off the disconnect there isn't enough engagement between the hammer and trigger to keep the hammer from following. There is not an easy fix other than replace the trigger.

What you can try is filing the underside of the nose of the disconnect. That will give the disconnect a little more engagement and hopefully let the hammer grab.

Even if you were able to file and get it to work I would never trust it because at some point it could randomly start doing it again. And if that happens at a public range with an overzealous off duty LE officer you might find yourself answering some questions at a minimum and potentially in a lot of hot water. Not worth risking it for the cost of a new FCG.

Might call the manufacturer and discuss it with them. Never know it might be a batch of guns that were bad and they are completely aware. I would also suggest they send you a new FCG and you return the old one. That would be easier and cheaper on both of you but they still might want to inspect the gun.

Sounds like that new binary trigger someone started selling. One the single shot position it is single shot but in the third position it fires on pull AND release. That binary trigger is several hundred dollars.

BTW, will the selector go past semi? Just making sure it isn't a binary trigger.

Definitely not a binary trigger, bought it new from royal range just 2 weeks ago.  and it's not a consistent issue.  happens maybe 3/4 times.

Dolo S ^ plus one.  I would like to add that to check the primary sear engagement, Open up the action and very carefully watch the hammer as you dry fire the hammer. The hammer must "over cock" slightly before it is released from the trigger. If infact it is over cocking with the first stage trigger pull, I would go to the disconnector as mentioned above and file some material off the bottom front where it presses against the top of the trigger. Doing this, will allow for more trigger to hammer sear alignment "before" the disconnector releases the hammer into the ready to fire position. This is a very common FCG adjustment in adjusting the stock triggers. Just go little by little or if you take too muck off the disconnector, the trigger will not return to fire ready position after a trigger firing.
