What's your little known local attractions?

I'm looking for small town, off the beaten path local attractions that most don't know about. I'm not talking about restaurants or shops. I mean abandoned locations in the woods or off the roadside. Stuff that may not have a visitor for weeks. The creepier/weirder the better but anything of interest. Even movie/show filming locations. I don't mind and even like doing homework and trying to research a place. Looking in the Southern middle TN area, within 75 miles of Nashville. If you share a location I will assume all of the risks and legalities of visiting there and will not post the exact location or city. I'm looking to film short videos. Thanks in advance.

Oh no lol. I'm just looking for strange places to do homework on and record some short videos. I can see how it would look that way haha!

I recently stumbled across something interesting on my way to Citico. There isn't much to see but it's a beautiful area and I appreciated the history behind it.

Let me know if this isn't what you're looking for. One of my hobbies is just getting in my Truck and taking the most random backwoods redneck roads in TN that I can find.

The Big South Fork Scenic Railway goes by a train that was wrecked in the filming of the movie "The Fugitive".

The winding stairs walking trail is a little known place to visit in my hometown.

Red Boiling Springs was once the top tourist destination in the U.S. A flood in the 60's wiped out a lot of it, but there are three hotels still there. Pretty interesting, out of the way stuff.

Something that always fascinated me in that area was Scona Lodge, a former 5 star resort visited by some huge names until the 1990's.  It features a golf course and a trout pond but all but a small trace of it is now gone.  Primarily it was was accessed via ferry just below Calderwood Dam in Blount/Monroe Counties, depending on which side you were on because it was difficult to approach from the land side.  Here is a write up http://garysoutdoorwanderings2.blogspot.com/2012/02/story-of-scona-lodge.html?m=1

I think you mean Smoky Mountain Railroad over in Haywood County NC.

It appears you're correct! I've been on both, and would have sworn it was in Ky, but a google search proves me wrong.

The one in Stearns, KY is still neat, as it tours an old coal mining town.

I came by a place that begs an investigation ,  behind Dunbar cave, a popular attraction, there are two old cars that seem to of either got caught in a runoff or abandoned on purpose.

I've actually watched a video about the train wreck that's still there. I would like to see it. I may add they to my list of places to travel over my 2 week January vacation.

I'm liking these ideas. There is a guy on YouTube that kind of inspires me to go see places. His channel is "The Daily Woo". He left his job 5 years ago and travels the country in his van. He's a bit nerdy and has some spot on 80's movie references. He's a native Mississippian and Floridian. He does videos every single day about anything from famous murder scene locations to attractions to abandoned buildings. I'm hooked on his channel. He has uploaded every single day for 1500+ days. If you do anything today go to his channel from the video below and subscribe and scroll back through his videos. There is something for everyone. And every one of his videos is kid friendly.

He also does a video about "Corpsewood Manor" in NW Georgia, not far from Chattanooga I plan to visit. Kind of a screwed up story but interesting.

Be sure to go to Dillsboro, NC and not Stearns, KY, or you'll be disappointed.
