Any Single Action Colt tinkerers on here?

Recommended Posts

After a bit of looking, I've determined I can't get the damned cylinder pin out! It is frozen to the cylinder; not the frame.

I've also determined the cylinder has a considerable amount of play, and I can put pressure on the cylinder pin and the action works perfectly. I expect it needs shimmed, peened or something to tighten it up rather than a hand assembly, if I can figure out how to get it apart without destroying it, perhaps I can tell more about it.

I also determined it was made in 1911. That's a long time to build up crud, corrosion, etc. inside.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Pour some Kroil on it so it will get down in there and break it loose.  Let it soak in while you study on it... like a day.

Just did the same thing on an old CVA New Remington Pocket pistol that I recently rediscovered.  Built it from a kit when I was about 13,  shot it a couple of times in the backyard, never cleaned it and put it away.  Fast forward to now and that cylinder was completely locked up...not anymore.

Kroil is the miracle oil.

Did the trick! Thanks.

As expected, I need a new hand spring. The cylinder is a bit sloppy, but we'll see how it is when it's back together and properly working.
