Cold Front for Gun Season Opening...

It looks like a cold front is headed our way for Saturday through the next week of Thanksgiving. IT'S ABOUT TIME!!!  So.....what about the rut? Will it help? Or does the weather not really matter? I've been out of deer hunting for over 25 years and this is my second season. I do know that the bucks are chasing right now and I'm in the camp that weather has no effect on when the does come in "season".......What do ya'll think? I will be enjoying the cold weather though anyway. Deer hunting and warm weather just doesn't go together for me. I got a spike last Friday and fought yellow jackets and flies while field dressing him, then rushed my butt off to get him to the processors ASAP since it was a healthy and nice sized deer. I remember hunting in the snow in November 30 years ago. Now it's 70+ degrees :bored:

I think it pushes them  all a little more.  I've seen no sign of rut the past two weekends.  Heck, saw a 6 point rubbing noses with a 4 point.  Minutes later 6 does come from the direction they just went and they were no where to be seen.  I'm ready for the cold!

I think it WILL help all hunting as my opinion is that nothing is normal with the late warm temps. I just got back from a Hog hunt this past week and even though it was cooler it was drier than a popcorn fart and loud as hell!

My observation is a cold snap usually gets deer moving.  I've predicted rut activity for the past few years using a lunar calender.  Since I've been doing this I've seen a lot of rut activity within a few days after a full moon.  I saw zero rut activity this past weekend, but my prediction is that they will be rutting hard and moving well on Saturday.

I like the cooler weather moving in. Makes them move a little more.

A small buck was chasing a doe and grunting last Sunday. The pre rut has kicked in. A good friend told me they were chasing like crazy at his place last weekend.

I hunted this past Sunday and saw a cow horned spike chasing some does.  You better believe I'll be in my stand early Saturday morning!

Good luck this weekend everyone, made sure my rifle was still on this past weekend and got my little buddy, the propane heater ready to go!  Haven't seen any bucks yet, but went bow hunting a few times and had some doe within range, but I suck and missed them both.

Currently in Denver, returning on Thursday so will be out early Friday, good luck to all.  BTW, they're expecting snow here Thursday,  so hope to bring it with me.
