I know that "cheap" and .44 magnum don't go in the same sentence (or just about any other type of ammo these days), but does anyone know of any reasonably priced .44 mag ammo? I'd prefer 240gr jacketed (will be in a gas operated semi-auto) with a reloadable casing....but besides that, it just has to be the best price possible. I'm looking to get 250rds or so to have fun with as I start out, then get some dies and I'll reload the brass. Thanks!

Yeah, its an Eagle.......I just traded for it today.......44 will be my "inexpensive" (crying) plinking round, but I plan on getting a .50AE barrel and mag for it when time and money permit. I'll most DEFINITELY be reloading for that.

Yeah, I intend to handload......but know myself, I know it will take me a while to get set up and running, so in the meanwhile, I'll buy some ammo and start blasting, then I'll have less brass to buy as well.

.44 Special is almost always more expensive, just because it is such an odd-duck caliber these days. Also, I don't believe it will cycle the gas system in the Desert Eagles. I know a couple folks who have them in .357 and even most factory loadings won't function properly in them; it's pretty much a requirement to handload for them. I don't know if the .44 is so finnicky, but I'd bet that the shorter OAL would cause problems as most semis headspace on the case mouth and not the rim, like revolvers.
