This has been brought up several times, but I just like to get and hear opinions from others. What do you think of using cleaning media and tumbling rounds for cleaning.

I have some 38 and 357 rounds that were subject to some humidity issues and have done a bit of cleaning on them. Just to clean discoloration off. Never tried with heavy tarnished rounds.

Done it a few times, some for corrosion, and others to take the tarnish/sizing wax off.  Most times just run it for a few minutes, once forgot and left there for...a bit, no issues with either.

Same here. But I did leave the tumbler running too long the first several times. Really didn't seem to do anything other than make the casings nice and shiny.

The only old ammo I have ever had problems with is cast bullet reloads. I think the lube had contaminated the powder, lots of squibs. it was free to me and a solid 20 years old. I just gave up on it as it was a pain to deal with.

Military surplus and older jacketed pistol ammo has never given me a problem.

I guess I'd be suspicious of old paper shot shells, buthe never had any so can't say for sure.

Really crappy vid of me shooting some left over from the sixties, sound didn't even sync, short takes is that half of them either "flamed" or went "pfft".

If stored in climate controlled, dry conditions, what's the shelf life of high quality ammo default_confused.gif

1) The only thing my G19 has ever had an issue with is Freedom Munitions reloads and those were bad primers. I had 1k rounds and finally burned through them. Great for failure drills but never again.

2) bud I've shot ammo my grand dad bought before going to war. When I go to his house he always asks me to burn through it. Mostly rifle cartridges. Most of it was fine. A few bad rounds here and there. Dry and climate controlled for the most part.

The only thing I've had an issue with is shotgun shells. Plastic gets old and starts cracking cause it's been jostled around and improperly taken care of...

Wonder if they allow revolvers? I'd like to try out your old Governor on some clay haha

About as well as you would expect. At 15 feet that thing has a spread like you wouldn't believe.
