I had noticed that antlers would come up missing on road killed deer within a day or two of me noticing them. I often wondered what people did with them so I began looking, seems alot. I was tempted to stop a few times for S&G, since I didn't really have a use for them, but was always either too late, or I had nothing to cut them off with. Then I seen a knife with antler scales, so I then decided the next time I had a chance I'd get me a set for sure. One day, my beagle didn't want to come in, which is usually because she found a dead squirrel or something. I went to investigate and found a dead deer just outside my fence. I didn't get a chance that morning to investigate further as I had to go to work, but it looked intact. That evening, i went to check it out, and drag it away from my fence, and it turned out to be a nice 8-point, one that I had not seen around here. It must of been hit by a car and run off, dying by my fence. I figured it would be a great set of rattling antlers so I cut them off, well, one side as the other (right)had broke right at the base due to the car. I always wanted to get a pair for this, but never wanted to seperate any of my harvested ones, so this worked out perfectly. Now I have to find some sheds, or road kill ones with a thick base for a knife.
