Don't forget to include in the "best" catagory the original Belgan made FN Fal. I had a Para in the early 80 and mine would do 1 inch at 100 consistantly, sure wish I didn't sell that one! These are however somewhat expensive today. but they do hold their value.

Magsafe has been around a long time, The bullet is filled with plated bird shot similar to the Glaser Safety slug the velocity is as high as double the normal velocity of the given caliber( I think the 45 round I have is adv. as 2,200 fps!). Wound channel is large although not as deep. The one shot stop probabilities from Ed Sanow were quite impressive. They are however incredably expensive , sometime as much as 20.00 for 6 rounds.

a friend of mine blew up his 22lr shooting 22 mags through it. I'd be sure to get one rated for 22 mag. One rated for 223 would be very heavy.

The last time I checked a pistol was in Memphis , I shot a match the following day and found they had moved my sights!

I wouldn't trade , You can find those watches realativly cheap in you know where to look. For instance I bought an Omega like that for 1500.00tax and all. The Rolex can be found if you have the connections. I guess the question to ask you is do you have a watch interest or do you think you can sell them for more profit? Don't forget even if they are real watches they may need to be serviced and each one could be $500.00 or more. Do figure that in the price as well. HK are had to come by and just good guns. I don't sell good guns!

Please give me your requirements before you will send someone funds to purchase an item. I require a verifiable name , address, and phone number. Am I being too cautious? Thanks

I have both. My super is an old series 70 colt commnader. The accuracy is not up to the same standards as the .45 (in my pistol anyway). The muzzle blast is more with the super. If the proper bullet is used I think the super is an adiquate caliber. I think I would however buy a 45 as a first 1911 and add a super as a second or third. You are welcome to come and shoot my super to compare if you want. Just drop me a PM.

I am curious what is considered a good price for 200 gr. SWC these days?

Kydex must be kept clean and dust free or it will scratch the finish. If this is done I think leather maybe more abrasive than kydex.

Yeah, this is my latest purchase. You are welcome to see it or shoot it if you ever come to Middle Tennessee.

Steve's Gun and Archery is in Columbia near the interstate and has a good selection and doesn't have the big Franklin or Nashville prices.

Most pawn shops consult Guns america or Gunbroker to get pricing. In the past they would mark it up double what they loaned on the gun which would be about 50% of the guns worth. Many of the collectable or higher value guns do not make it to the showroom they market them on GB. The internet has halted the deals of the pawn shop. The same could be said to a certain extent with gun shows too, everyone knows the value of an item.

I have one of both and really can't see a big difference between the two revolvers. Carry is exactly the same. They shoot the same. I would say buy the one you can find used at a good price.

Mentally prepared to pull the trigger??
RASHGUNNER replied to RASHGUNNER's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I have found an article that expresses my thoughts written by Louis Awerbuck. He states we need skill, cunning and the powers of observatino. The skill part is pratice the observation part is obvious if you don't see it or know it how do you defend it. the cunning part is the part that I question. He comments that Westerners least utilize Cunning(trechery) (ruthlessness) he comments that americans tend to fight fair. We do not tend to tear the eyes out of a would be rapist, Ie We play fair and the bad guys dont', This puts us at a disadvantage. -
I do have a r5 and it does shoot very well. The 40 x is a little under 1000 , I do not know round count and am taking the word of the seller as to condition. I do have a 3 day No shoot inspection/ Approval period. It comes with the original box and Unertl blocks. When and if i get it i'll post pictures.

Is a Remington 40XB worth the extra $$$. Does anyone have any experience shooting one? I will be using this for target shooting , not hunting. What kind of groups are possible. This is a 308 repeater that I have a chance to buy that is like new in the box made in 1966.

I don't think I'll ever get to 50!!! I don't have that much anyone cares to hear about!

Say what you will about Franklin gun shop, but where do you find a better selection of all kinds of firearms. You may not be able to buy one there but you can make up your mind if you need a specific one by handling it!

Mentally prepared to pull the trigger??
RASHGUNNER replied to RASHGUNNER's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Good comments. Good food for thought. Society has told us that violence is no answer when sometimes it is the only answer. My question was not a declaration of a deficit of my character , just an exercise in self evaluation. -
I think that many of us have trained and practiced to bring our shooting ability up to an acceptable level to be prepared to deal with an armed situation. I don't think that most of us are up to the task from a mental prepardness situation. Most of us without military/ police training I think are pretenting that we are ready and WILLING to draw and fire. I mean if you see a bad guy with a gun and he threatens you from accross the street or comes in your house, thats not what I mean. I think we would have the ability and time to react to this threat. I am taking about the unexpected attack , like a car jacking , robbery, etc. In my opinion the untrained would be too slow to react and reluctant to fire. We have been trained by society to be nice , don't cause trouble, and just look the other way. The gang bangers and bad guys do not have this hesitation, they do not care chat happens to themselves or the other guy. They probably have done this before, maybe even that night. Most of us have not fired at a person before. I had an uncle in the Battle of the Bulge and he said that if we got in a gunfight with each other he would win. I said "Why you that much better shot than I?" he said "No, You would hesitate. I would not." It makes you think.

I fear that the 100 post rule will get us less quality posts. Some just commenting to run their post count up. I do understand the logic with the requirement but wonder about the unintended consequences.

I get tired of the "We're gonna get you sucker! and We're just doing it to save you from your stupid self" ads. I say let natural selection take its course and thin the herd!

Read the book World war z , It mentions a good knife /sword/hatchet is as important as firearms. It is interesteng to see the theory that modern combat technology was not useful and it took some time for authorities to deveolp new tactics. Also the disease is treated like a strong case of rabies at first , Interesting read.
