  1. The problem is there are no gun smiths in the Tri Cities that I am aware of. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  4. So I can't bring myself to pay $3000 for a Lee Enfield No.4 Mk1 T or $6000 for a k98 with an ajack or zeiss affixed to it. What I have decided to do is try making a clone or my best possible reproduction. The problem I have had thus far is no one seems to think they can drill/tap the hardened Lee Enfield receivers. I haven't even inquired about the k98s yet. Currently I have been watching the no4 mk1 T rifles that have no scope, just the scope mount brackets already affixed. Then it's simply buy the rest and slap it on. The right item at the right price hasn't came to my attention yet though. As for the k98, even just the plain rifle isn't cheap, so that is one I would really want done right so that it looks original to the gun. If I were to acquire the rifle and either period correct scope mounts/optics or just reproduction optics, is there a gunsmith on here or in the NE Tenn region that could mount them properly? Even better, does anyone know of a company that does this already for the k98?
  5. Been wanting one of those myself. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. The one stamped on it currently is 1928. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. No this is on my phone. It's in the wall of the receiver on the left side if you're looking in it, where the bolt locking lug sits...not on the contacting locking surface but in the cavity area. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. This sucks because it's a Finnish m27...shoots great Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I didn't notice it until after I had put about 20 rounds through it. Found it this evening just looking in there with a flashlight. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Exactly. Good eye. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Is this what I think it is? It's not a hair cause it won't move. . Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. If you want a really darn knowledgeable youtuber that has many many many old guns, look up mishaco. He's kinda nerdy and wears sunglasses in all his videos but he seems like he knows his stuff. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Oh come on so he uses a few up here and there. The ones he has used are plentiful in supply. It's not like he's going out and blowing up garands or anything like that. Having said that, no I wouldn't do any sporterizing get or pressure testing to mine, but that's just because I only can afford one haha. His YouTube funding and man cans lets him buy all he wants. 16. Yes a quick look and it would pass as a semi auto. It's unique for sure. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Heck Yeah!!!
  18. I know you probably did this out of personal enjoyment, but have you found out yet that you may have been able to get a complete gun for less than what was spent on the rebuilt one? That's the way it was with my arisaka I did. I saved it b/c it had a perfect mum.
  19. Yeah that extra tube and birdcage muzzle brake do it for me in the looks department.
  20. Well it wasn't completely coated. Few places on the barrel and that decorative tube. Overall the buttplate is the worst part on it. The stock is actually really good. The bolt still had old dried cosmoline caked to the firing pin and other crevices. The bore had junk in it. That is what I mean by nasty. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. This gun was nasty. I had to take some steel wool to a few surface rust places, particularly the buttplate. It sat in someone's closet or something for a long time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. I don't think I had ever ran across one prior to Sootch's YouTube video. It's such a nice size and weight. I may use it for a deer gun. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. I originally was introduced to the FR-8 through a video posted by Sootch and then Ian McCollum from Forgotten Weapons and InRange TV (both YouTube channels) did a more in depth review. I had never seen or heard of this particular gun, and a quick gunbroker search yielded very few examples up for sale, so I assumed it was a more rare thing to come by. These are basically original Spanish large ring Mauser rifles that were cut down, re chambered and modified to become trainer rifles for the CETME rifle the Spanish military employed. By looking at just the barrel section, you would assume this was a semi auto rifle from the birdcage muzzle brake and the tube under the barrel. This was done to sort of mimic the CETME's features. The tube on the underside is no more than a compartment that can house the cleaning kit. Given the rather small and handy size of this rifle, you would think .308 would put a real wallop on the shoulder. Actually the muzzle brake does a pretty dang good job of softening it up. It's comparable in size to an m44 Mosin Nagant but not near as hefty. I feel like I could carry it all day. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Yeah it's got me wanting one for my 19-5 snub Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. So they are not old or anything it would appear. I did see that they are still being produced. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
