  1. If they went for $220 I would be buying as many as I can afford...
  2. Gee I already own 3 out of 5 here and I don't even have a C&R!
  3. Thought I would show some progress I have made with the finish on the gun. I did all this with 220 grit sandpaper and oil. Here is the trigger guard attached for comparison. The barrel is done too. I need a good way to get into the front sight post and in a few crevices on the bolt head and rear part of the receiver.
  4. That lever has to be pulled out to take the bolt out of the action. It should still slide back without that giving it any trouble. Rusted?
  5. Well how do you go about applying it evenly? Does it kinda glob up if you put too much in one spot or anything like that?
  6. http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=1072/Product/OXPHO-BLUE-reg- Here is what I plan on using to cold blue the gun. The Oxpho-Blue has great reviews.
  7. I figured I would just give this a whirl. All I need is a stock and barrel bands and a complete sight. I already found a stock and I'm trying to decide whether to make it anti-aircraft or to leave off that stuff on the sight.
  8. The safety might be engaged! Push in and twist the knob on the back of the bolt to the left and see if that helps you out!
  9. The guy that had it before sporterized it. I have no barrel bands of any kind. All the parts I have are in the pics above where the gun is being held.
  10. That is the folded down anti-aircraft sights I believe you are referring to.
  11. Ok thanks guys. It helps to have other people googling with you cause I run into the same sites all the time when I am searching this stuff.
  12. This is kinda going to be a before and after place for me to post pics of the rifle. (Here ya go Caster) I bought a cheap, bubba'd arisaka type 99 and I have a few areas I am unsure of. The rifle itself is the 25.5" model. Any ideas what length cleaning rod I will need? The rifle is a Nagoya Arsenal rifle, with a serial ending in 950. I think it's a 5th gen. The mum is in tact and looks great. I would appreciate if anyone knows whether or not my rifle would have had the anti aircraft sights and monopod, pure novelties. The bolt smelled horrible ha, and I found that the firing pin is broke. I placed a bid for one on ebay. The rear sight is what stumps me. There is no ladder for the adjustable sliding peep sight, all that is there is a peep and then the v-notch....I suspect someone removed the ladder but I could be wrong. I also placed a bid on a stock on ebay, as the previous bubba'd stock is not to my liking. I want to add that the front sight is supposed to be pinned onto the barrel, and I think I can faintly see the circular shading of something on both sides, but it's perfectly smooth when you rub your hand across it.

  15. I know you said you don't want to buy online, but I get mine from Widener's Reloading in Jonesboro. It's 13.95 a box for PPU and they carry 158gr and 174gr and something else. They also have cheaper shipping than AIM does cause I have ordered from them too. http://wideners.com/itemview.cfm?dir=18|830|847 They also carry steel targets and guns and other neat stuff.

  17. WOW. Share? haha
  18. That's exactly what happened to me. My auction went from 250 to 300. But I figured up that the 150 rounds of brass cased ammo is worth about 150 bucks plus I'm getting 10 rounds of nazi marked ammo and then the rifle, so I didn't do too bad.
  19. That ain't bad at all!
  20. Yeah I have thought of that, but like you said, often they do not have online listings.
  21. Thought I would share this with you guys. I have successfully purchased 2 rifles at different times on the internet for the first time. First one was a month or so ago, my Enfield No.4 Mk.1 from GunsAmerica. That was a buy it now gun, and I think I got a fair deal on it considering how good a shape it's in. Last night, I bought another but on Gunbroker this time. It was an auction, and I have decided that I HATE gunbroker auctions. Oh and the rifle is a Steyr M95 Stutzen Carbine. But I had the only bid on that gun until 3 minutes remained on the time, and this guy kept on and kept on bidding, whether he outbid me or not! He would wait until the timer (which resets 15min after each bid) reached 1 minute or less and then bid another $5....needless to say I was getting pissed. But I ended up a winner, and the rifle also is coming with 150 rounds of brass cased ammo and 10 rounds of original 1940 Nazi marked ammo.
  22. I had the rear spring broke on mine when I got it. I ordered a replacement but it won't hold the band in place when firing

    Saiga's Cheap

Oh great Brian. The SKS not enough for ya huh? They have an SKS-M at that shop next to Byrd's right now that you should just jump on. Best of both worlds, SKS bolt assembly and accepts AK mags!
