I tried that trick too. It works.

You did chose to buy from an individual, not a dealer. This is not typical of Smith & Wesson. They normally can spank any other manufacturer on customer service. Try hangin out at Smith-Wessonforums.com. I bet someone will help you.

How about a single action Glock with a thumb safety? Like a 1911. Oh, that would be an M&P..........

It does look thinner than a Glock 26

I Chipmunk and P22 are a great way to start. My 12 yo daughter enjoys a S&W 5904 also.

You get what you pay for. Smith Customer service is outstanding.

I had a good time at the Jacobs Building Funshow yesterday. I took my Daughter with me. She reminded me that I had promised her a Walther P22 when I found a decent price on one. She had shot one about a year ago when we were at the range. Mike Gun Room had a very good price. He also had a great deal on a 3rd Generation Smith that I could not pass up. Pics below. ETB

This is 1200 degree paint (engine header paint, $7.99 a can at Autozone) on a 6906. Honestly, it wears great. If you get to the point that you don't like it, dunk it in some MEK.

I really should put it one the scale and see. The original stock HAD to be near 4 pounds. I'm thinking around 1.5 to 2 for the new one. The balance is dramatically better. Can anyone make a suggestion about fitting a muzzle brake. I would like to do away with the carnival snow cone look and the bayonet lug. I find bayonets useful only when I forget a tent stake.

I've had an Ishapore / Enfield 2A in 7.62 for for at least 15 years. It is a Gibbs Rifle Company "fake" #5 Jungle Carbine. I ordered it "new" in the box sometime in the mid 1990s from Bob Farnsworth in Vonore. Seems like it was about $125. It it probably the ugliest firearm I have ever owned (if you don't count Glocks). It is also heavy, as it is encumbered with at least 4 pounds of wood stock. Almost a year ago I had an order in to Cheaper than Dirt ( I sometimes call "Expensive as Crap") and I added an ATI polymer sporter stock. I got bored today and finally installed the stock. I really like the change in looks. Now if I can figure out how to add a forward mount-long eye relief scope I will have myself a very low buck "Scout Rifle". Any suggestions?

I had a non-original owner service problem with the adjustable sights on a S&W 4006 Cop trade in. I removed the sight sent it to them. They installed new part and shipped back to my 2nd day air. Their service ROCKS!

Get it small enough that you will never have a second thought about packin. If you are going to compromise and a get a cut down midsize-get the mid size ie. G26 vs G19-Get the 19 XDsc vs XDc-Get the c If you want carryability vs serviceability, get the PPS. -
I have used 8040 PB Cougar coming in Tuesday, but it has 10rd mags. Can anyone recommend a reasonable vendor for 11 rd magazines. Are the Turk Stoeger mags of the same quality? Are Mac-Gars available for the Cougar? Can Beretta 96 mags be modified to fit? Can I alter the depressions in the 10 rd mags to fit 11 rds? Thanks in advance, ETB

I have some pieces and parts of a family heirloom, an original Model 1894 Winchester in 25-35. I have the barrel and receiver and all receiver internals but nothing else. Where can I find a parts or donor gun? Is there anyone between Nashville, Lexington, Bristol or Atlanta that specializes in vintage Winchester smithing or restoration? What is the most reasonably priced way to get this carbine back into firing condition?

Has anyone bought a Glock barrel directly from Storm Lake? They are located in Lenior City?

I know I should honor the inauguration of a new leader of the free world and our great nation with reverence and respect. So I did. I am a team player for Team USA-so I celebrated the inauguration by purchasing a myself a new Glock while he was making the inaugural address. I figured I owed the Presiden the respect of making a wise financial decision in this time of economic downturn. I pick up a new Model 31 / 357 Sig. It has been nearly twenty year since I had my first Glock-a Model 19. I haven't kept up with them much and I have a few questions I was hoping the TGO posse could help me out with: 1. What do I have to install/change out to shoot .40 S&W? 2. What do I have to install/change out to shoot 9mm? 3. Is there is difference between the .40 and .357 magazines? 4. Any recommended sources for magazines and 357 Sig ammo? Thanks, ETB
