  1. I've dropped 35 lbs since June by cutting what I used to eat in half. I don't count calories, or starve, but I do eat much smarter. If I go out, I ask for a take home carton when I order and cut everything in half before I even start eating. I stick with mostly chicken and fish (crappie I've caught) for my meals and eat lots of salads now. I may have barbecue pork once in a while kind of as a reward thing. My main problem was my blood sugar was not doing much. I'd not seen anything under 110 for a couple of years even while taking pills. A month ago, my neighbor invited me to go with him to Planet Fitness and I'm lucky enough to still the ability to exercise even though I'm 62 years old. I really enjoyed it and joined. I've been working out every day for a month now. I alternate each day between treadmill and weights, and just the treadmill.  For kicks, I checked my BS a few days ago, and every day since, first thing when I get up. I'm now between 90 and 95. It had to be the exercise. I've got 65 more lbs to go to reach my goal of 200.   One tip I got from a friend was really helpful. Salad Dressing is high in everything from calories to sugar. Rather than pour salad dressing on a salad, dip your fork in it then get a bite of salad. I've cut my average dose of salad dressing in half doing this and the flavor is there in every bite.
  2. Sadly, In todays world, it would be depending on the color/race of your attacker.
  3. LOL....yep. I DO understand.  Neatfoots earl is good stuff!!
  4. :squint:  :stunned:    I hate loading pictures.......   Ahhhh.....THERE it is!!!  Now that's some great looking leather. Good job!
  5. thanks for the help. I'm pretty much decided on the 44 for deer in thickets. Gonna do some more research on the coyote rifle I think. Lots of options out there from what I've read.
  6. Since I retired this past fall and have so much time to do stuff, I've decided to take up deer hunting again. I hunted for many years and quit after all of the land I hunted on was converted to expensive hunting leases. I've recently found a good lease that is within my budget so I guess I'll drag the towel back outta the ring.  My question is this. I have a Marlin 1894 in 44 magnum and I'm thinking about adding a scope and hunting with it but I'm undecided on scope or open sights.  The area I'll be hunting is pretty danged thick and I'll probably have to cut a few shooting lanes. I can't imagine a shot over 50 yards, so my thinking is the 44 might be great for deer in this situation.  If anyone has hunted deer with a 44 magnum rifle I'd really appreciate some input on what you think of this caliber and what experiences you've had with it.   While I'm at it, I'd like to ask some of you coyote hunters what caliber do you use to hunt them?  I'm thinking about that too. Are the Savage Axis rifles any good? I saw some of them at the gun show this weekend and they looked pretty nice for the $$$.  I was thinking about one of those in maybe a 243, but that caliber ammo seems to be rather limited. What do ya'll think?   Thanks..!!   Randall
  7. These are good for the price:   http://aliengearholsters.com/   I especially like the free shell trades for life in case you ever change weapons.
  8. "Ferguson police testing new device aimed at reducing fatal police encounters."     A device that does this same thing is already in place. It's called a Parent that teaches their children to respect authority.
  9. Electronic money transfer. It's coming and no one can stop it. This has been talked about for many years, but only in recent years has the technology evolved to this level. I wonder how many jobs that will cost? No more manufacturing of paper or coin currency, no more transporting of cash, no need for cash registers, Just walk up to the counter, scan your items and swipe your new National (soon to be world) EMT money card (You most likely have one in your pocket or purse. it's called a DEBIT CARD) and BAM, It's paid for. We do this now at the self service POS registers in Wal-Mart and the grocery store and other places with the only difference being we use a credit/debit card.   Why next thing you know somebody will come up with the crazy idea of making the only means to pay for something be by an electronic chip implanted in your right hand or forehead.  GEESH....!!!   Rev 13:16   "And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: Rev 13:17   "And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name."
  10. And another one bites the dust!!!
  11. If this is true, Obama is pissing his pants right now.
  12. Not enough people buying tee shirts and range bags?
  13. Candle Lanterns.
  14. TFA does a good job of keeping up with bills that do or could affect the 2A in either manner, good or bad and getting them out to us in time to contact our politicians.  I got this yesterday and it's really sticking in my craw:   HBO139 - As introduced, creates a Class E felony of intentionally possessing a firearm that the person knows or reasonably should know is stolen. - Amends TCA Title 39, Chapter 14, Part 1 and Title 39, Chapter 17, Part 13.   http://www.capitol.tn.gov/Bills/109/Bill/HB0139.pdf     To my knowledge, no citizen has access to a database of stolen firearms. How in the world could a law so vague be enforced? To believe all stolen firearms are always sold by an obvious crackhead in a back alley for penny's on the dollar is asinine. Every purchase of a firearm, other than a new purchase from a dealer, has the potential to have been stolen at some point in time unless the seller is well known to the buyer and the seller bought it new. Who decides a person should have reasonably known a firearm bought was stolen and by what criteria is the decision made? This bill is being sponsored by Brenda Gilmore, Democrat of course, and seems to me to be an attempt to throw a bill out there that's ANTI 2A in the face of the many bills that are written by our legislatures that are PRO 2A.    I thank the TFA for keeping me up with the bills that can affect our 2A here in Tennessee. A heads up with plenty of time to contact my reps and voice my opinion.
  15. Note to self:   Don't leave yer rifle lean'n against a tree while you take a whiz in Grizzly bear country..!!!!
  16. http://www.surplusammo.com/25-auto-50-grain-fmj-pmc-bronze-50-rounds/   $20 per box of 50, but in stock now.
  17. TO EACH HIS OWN......but I was born in TN and have lived in GA 2 times. Last time was for 10 years. I hated the state income taxes (they still owe me over $1200 from 11 years ago and I had a check processed by the state of GA as proof it was paid and I never got the money back), the price for car tags and boat trailer tags, lawn mower trailer tags, gas is always higher than TN as well as all of my insurance. Moving back to TN was like a $15 an hour raise...LOL   A herd of Clydesdale horses couldn't drag me back to GA.
  18. It's been a good while since I was there, but I really liked the city. There's a lot to do if you get out and look around. There's a dog track not too far away in Orange Park that was always fun. Tons of great seafood, beaches, some great fishing also out of St. Augustine. Castillo de San Marcos is a very old fort like from the 1700's that I really enjoyed.
  19. I'm praying for you Doug. We've had conversations about our lives and I admire you for your strength and perseverance through the years. Keep it up and keep the faith. Remember that the Lord has complete control.
  20. I love 'em both. The hollow grind and the lines of the blade are so even and crisp and perfect!  Again, I'm amazed at how you make those things. That's a great job!
  21. My wife just got a recorded phone call from the "IRS" telling us we were being sued and "needed to call the following number immediately"   The call went exactly like this verbatim: http://www.floridatoday.com/story/news/local/2014/11/07/scam-irs-calling/18647845/   I'm putting this on all the forums I frequent.
  22. I've always loved dogs and have owned several of different breeds. Everyone has their own reason for buying an animal, whether for hunting, work, or a pet. I'm in the pet category and get them for the loyalty, love and companionship they usually offer and not to add worry, stress or liability to my life. That being said, I've had 2 Springer Spaniels. One was the best dog I've had in my life above all of them. She lived to be 15 and I actually cried over losing her. She was a wonderful animal, perfect in every way.  I had another one that looked almost exactly like her. This dog was a demon dog. She was crazy. I raised her from a 6 week old pup. I worked with her obedience wise, never abused her or struck her, but she was very difficult to train. She had a mind of her own. When she was around 1.5 years old, she began to growl and became "snappy". At 2 years old, she was sitting in my chair one day and bit the crap out of me when I reached for her to set her on the floor. I gave her away to some people with a warning that she had bit me. They got her home and she bit one of them to the tune of a couple of stitches in their leg. They had her euthanized. This proved to me, any dog of any breed can be aggressive and be a biter. If that dog has the physical ability to kill or maim, the potential for death or injury is always there.
  23.   The mobile web interface is all I've ever used. It's always worked great for me.   Edited to add:  Tapatalk ALWAYS has an irritating ad that pops up in front of the mobile site and sometimes is a bit difficult to close out on my iphone 5. It takes several taps on the "X" to get it to go away. After that, I'm good.
  24. Excellent point. Obviously black lives only matter when taken in self defense by white LEO's, which occurs at a much lower rate than black on black murders. It really just stands to reason that events in an LEO's workday, being on the front lines of black lawlessness, are going to be put in SD situations statistically much higher than most of us. Then, you add in the fact that its the WHITE LEO'S where the hatred is focused, it just don't make much sense. But then, nothing in America under Obama and the Democrats makes much sense.
