Nothing like a Ford Truck New Truck built by a company we didn't bail out... I bought a new Ford F250 Tri-Flex Fuel Truck. Go figure-- it runs on either hydrogen, gasoline, or E85. I returned it to the dealer yesterday because I couldn't get the radio to work. The service technician explained that the radio was voice activated. "Nelson", the technician said to the radio. The radio replied, "Ricky or Willie?" "Willie!" he continued and "On The Road Again" came from the speakers. Then he said, "Ray Charles!", and In an instant " Georgia On My Mind" replaced Willie Nelson. I drove away happy, and for the next few days, every time I'd say, "Beethoven", I'd get beautiful classical music, and if I said, "Beatles", I'd get one of their awesome songs. Yesterday, some guy ran a red light and nearly creamed my new Ford truck, but I swerved In time to avoid him. I yelled, "Ass Hole!" Immediately the radio responded with, "Ladies and gentlemen, the President of the United States ." Damn I love this Ford truck....

I sure missed that discussion. Well, if they use the money well, I guess I have no problem. I do wonder how they will enforce the $5 for 2 hours permit though.

I was just looking through the TWRA regulations etc, and saw something that's news to me and I wondered if this is common knowledge here on the site. On page 36 of the online regulations I see that a firing range permit is required now at many WMA's including Prentice Cooper here in the Chattanooga area. The permit must be bought at a TWRA licensing agent and is $5.50/2 hours. I haven't shot up there in a couple of years or maybe even more, but it was free last time I was up there. Anyone know when this started?

I was fishing one night this summer when we had a meteor shower. It was 2am and I was the only boat on the water and there was no wind at all. I turned out all the lights, sat back with a sandwich and cold drink and took in the sights for about an hour. I was on a very dark area of the river and the sky was clear. It was amazing. I saw a lot of quick flashes and one fireball that ran over half of the sky and left a trail that lasted a couple of seconds or so. After that, I loaded up and came home.

Thanks for the input....and the warnings. I'm still in the thinking stage. I hunted from the ground this year and a portable chair. I did use a couple of the clubs ladder stands and they are really nice to, just not portable. The lease I'm on is pretty thick down low. I really need to get about 10 or 12 ft or so to get above it. A few of the guys on th lease I'm on are close to my age and use the Summits which seems to be extremely popular. If I get one that will probably be the brand I get. So far I like the Triton the best. I've got a long time to think on it. Again, I really appreciate all of the input. Thanks!

I'm all for any anti gun politician having to hoof it with no security detail. After all, can't THEY just dial 911? -
I must say that I really love my night sights on my G-27

Well, IMO, the government should be worried about stopping illegal drugs which is what they should be spending all this time and money on. I went to see a friend in rehab a week ago and he said it's all over the place and easy to find, and in all of our schools. I saw a local town in Tennessee had a drug roundup the other day and they arrested 16 people at the end of a year long probe. 16 is all they got out of a year long investigation. I guess I just don't understand how hard it is to do drug enforcement, but that just doesn't seem to be much bang for the buck if drugs are such a pandemic on our streets. -
The MSM is infected with the disease called Liberalism. It can be identified easily. Sufferers wake up each morning and think they are in Disneyland with the song "it's a small world" playing constantly in their diseased brain.

Obamacare does have some cheap insurance. Finding a dr. that will take it is another matter all together. Obama lied. You don't ALWAYS get to keep your doctor. Now that they have had some experience with Obamacare, some doctors are refusing to take more plans as they figure things out.

LOL....yep. Each one is probably financed for 12 years too!!

Ain't that the truth. All Ryan has done as far as I can tell is grow a beard to cover that baby face of his. His beady little eyes are still visible though. LOL -
I'm amazed at the prices also. I'm driving a 2000 Dodge 2500 Diesel with 138K. Before I retired I thought about getting a newer model, not new mind you, but the prices were crazy even for used ones. I had mine painted for $1800 and it will probably be my last truck I ever own. I've taken good care of it and have had no payment since 2005. What is even more amazing to me is the rigs I see when I go fishing. $40K trucks pulling $65K bass boats. Oh, I have a 2007 Triton aluminum 17 ft with a 75 Mercury Optimax and I catch all the fish I need. No payment on it either.

I bought a really nice fish finder for my boat a year or so ago at Academy and after mounting all the hardware, cables, power cord and mounting the transducer etc.....I tried it out but the card reader was bad and it wouldn't let me install the maps etc. I tried a couple of different sd cards but the reader wouldn't recognize anything. I headed back to academy with the head portion only in the box. The people up front called a manager and after listening to my problem, which included how I really didn't want to have to remove all that other stuff just to replace the head portion, he simply agreed with me and said "follow me.". We walked to the fish finder section he got a new one out and exchanged my head unit for the new one, putting my non working one in the box. He said he was sorry for the trouble I had. I said "you just made a life long customer sir" thanked him, and shook his hand. The replacement worked like a charm and I'm still using it.

I think 2. If I want more, then I can buy more and usually do, but for many people that is enough, home protection for instance. The more mags supplied the higher the price will be on the initial purchase. Why should non sport or competition shooters pay for mags they won't ever use or need, is my thinking.

Some gun store employees think they are very special, which in turn makes then a douche bag in my book. If there are salesmen available just shooting the breeze my wait time is counted in seconds not minutes or I walk.

What modern firearms do you think will be collectable in the future?

Well, it could be after they are all be melted down and Kumbaya is the National Anthem, that folks will collect pictures and ads in old books depicting the good old days. -
Heads up about the owner of Shooter's Depot in Chattanooga

I've been in the place twice when they first opened. Once to look at a pistol and once to join up for a year of range use. I walked both times without buying for various reasons. Pompous attitude was one. -

It looks to me like a determined knife attacker could very well win from a good distance away, depending on the ages of the victim and the attackers age, speed and agility. If you factor in surprise elements, the knife attacker may just have an advantage since he would be moving towards you before you even know the attack is coming. That's a very eye opening Mythbuster IMO. -
My son has started noticing his Tacoma making a knocking or ticking sound on cold mornings when he first starts it up. After 20 or 30 seconds it stops and won't do it anymore that day. It doesn't do it on warm mornings either, only on cold mornings. It has 130K miles. I've found a long thread on a tacoma forum that talks about this very thing and it seems a LOT of these engines to this. There's even a sound bite someone recorded of theirs that sounds exactly like my sons. Some on the thread are saying piston slap since it goes away in 30 seconds or so. Some say it's the shim-under-bucket valve setup these engines have making the noise until oil gets to them after a few seconds and can be eliminated by using a thinner viscosity oil in cold winter months. Do any of you gentlemen have a tacoma that does this on startup on cold winter mornings? Any info/suggestions/experiences with this would be much appreciated.

I've been a life member for about 3 years. The solicitation doesn't bother me in the least. If I get snail mail or emails I either give 'em a few bucks if I can, or I toss/delete the request. Pretty much the same on the occasional phone call. I either give a little or tell them no-can-do right now. The conversation ends with no pressure at all. Now that I think about it. I haven't had a phone call in a very long time, but then, it's still not a big thing at all to me. I'd say without them and the donations that are made allowing them to fight the gun grabbers, we'd be talking about the "good 'ol days when we had guns" if anything at all.
