  1. Good idea! I intend to do some trail making later on. I hadn't really thought about it, but I'll be adding something like that for sure.
  2. I finally got time to make something......here are some pics. Total cost was about $25. It's easy to remove, but actually pretty sturdy. It's actually not near as wide as it looks in the pic. it overhangs my 4 wheeler by about 4" on each side is all.
  3. Not only do I kill, or try to kill every single one I see while hunting anything else, I actively hunt them. I'm new to the yote hunt scene, but I'm trying to learn fast. They are in a population explosion. I'm hunting with a call, attractor, and a scoped 44 mag marlin. I will drop them as fast as I can get a shot at them. They will destroy your quail, rabbit and deer population. I'm 63 years old. These varmints were not around 30-40 years ago. Now they are in our and YOUR neighborhood killing YOUR pets. I'm gonna kill the basturds anytime I see one.
  4. well....it does take attention to to detail which you have. Don't cut ourself short. any type of craft work takes skill to do it really well. And you do it really well.
  5. I'm going to restock my freezer with crappie for sure. I usually get it done even before the spawn. I love those cold water crappie!!! I've not had squirrel dumplings in many years. I'd shoot and clean them, then my Mom used to fry them up with flour, pepper etc....then take the meat off of the bones and make dumplings and hot biscuits!! Lip smacking good!!
  6. Well, I know for sure that in my unit we have 3 weeks left from tomorrow to fill our tags. I hope we all will have our freezers full of venison by then <toast>.........So, now I'm thinking what to do until Turkey season. Last year I started coyote hunting but really didn't do much good. I'm gonna head back out and give it another try just to be out in the woods if nothing else. I have a good call and am set up pretty good for it, but I'm going to give ladder type treestands a try this year. There are quite a few on my lease and even a few pretty good shooting houses. Have any of you hunted yotes from stands? I've seen a lot of bobcat and coyote tracks during deer season so I know they are there. Any tips or suggestions on how to get these critters in close enough for a shot?
  7. Good job!! I wish I had the patience to do something like that.
  8. Very unique site. Thanks!
  9. Lying, blaming others and crying when you're cornered or the plan backfires. It's all part of the disease called Liberalism.
  10. I really love lever guns. I'm deer hunting with a scoped Marlin 44 mag I bought from a friend a couple of years ago. I also have a Henry .22 lever that is a blast to shoot.
  11. Here's an article that gives the inaugural members of the Caucus: 2nd amendment caucus
  12. I gotta say....that was one good supper and we've got 3 or 4 more meals left.
  13. Ok...I started a roast tonight. I'm slow cooking it in an electric skillet. I can use less liquid that way. I have some waterless cookware I've had for ages and it's fantastic for this kind of cooking. I browned the roast on one side, then the other and added Natures Seasoning to each side. I added just a little water to make a nice juice and turned it down so the lid will lock down tight. It will simmer until in the morning then I'll add some onion, baby carrots and red potatoes cut in half. A touch of Worcestershire sauce, pepper, a tad bit of salt and cook for about 3 more hours on simmer with the lid locked down again. More pics to come. Alright...suppers ready! Well, actually its over now. Me and the wife had a great meal. She loved it as much as I did. Last 3 pics are new.
  14. Whoa! Looks delicious. Good job! I'll be trying that in a few days.
  15. I'm out until Wednesday so I can get some things caught up. But, from Wednesday on, I'm hit'n it hard from then until either I get my last buck and doe or the season ends. There's plenty of time to rest after Jan. 8th...
  16. Yes it was! I was out there and the thermometer was reading 20 deg. I had to leave about 10:30, so I headed back to the truck, poured some hot coffee out of my thermos and ate a baloney and cheese sammich on the way out of the lease!
  17. Now that sounds GOOD! I can see this in my very near future for supper. Thanks!
  18. Sounds great! I just got a roast out this afternoon to thaw in the fridge. I'll be trying that out tomorrow. Thanks!
  19. Wow....that reminds me of that 57 corvette I found in a barn with only 15,000 miles.......Ohh yeah....that's a recurring dream I've had for close to 40 years........It ain't never come true though.....LOL You REALLY done good!!!
  20. I hunted until 1pm today. If I could eat fresh tracks I'd be in good shape. I'm having a time figuring out these deer.....there are fresh tracks every morning and lots of them. Deer are moving in this area I'm hunting and it's the only area I'm seeing fresh sign. There was only one other hunter in there today and rode in on a 4 wheeler before daylight. I walked down the road about 9am and there were tracks inside the 4 wheeler tracks. I heard them leave about 10:30. I'd guess 3 or 4 does moving around. I've got a plan for in the morning....EARLY. Maybe I'll score a doe for the freezer!
  21. Good luck to everyone that's still in the hunt. We've got about 4 more weeks to fill the tags!! I need another buck and a doe.
  22. I've had a bit of a setback...but I'm still in the game. I'm in the hunt for an 8 pointer or better. I've got to say. these mountain deer ain't easy to figure out. Ain't nothing like the farmland critters at all.....
  23. I've seen first hand in my life how the term "no good deed goes unpunished" is more than just a saying.......more times than I like to remember.
