  1. The reliable bang and cost is the only reasons I own them. I have several high end guns that jam if I don't use the right ammo. I do like that the hipoints are not pickt on ammo. I have shot every kind of ammo in them with no issues.
  2. I have liked mine just thought they were ugly and heavy so they have always been truck or cabin guns so if they get stolen or damaged it is not a $500 loss. They ATI stock made the 995 easier to hold and aim. My wife punched out the bullseye at 20yds making one large jagged hole with 30 rounds. She had no fliers and it did not seem to loose any accuracy afer 500 rounds. We put near 800 rounds in it today and not a single issue. We were doing a little training and she used that and I was using my beretta and I had ftf, fte and a mag issue in less than 400 rounds. That rifle has been back to beretta 3 time because of the same issues. I dont think I have even been able to get 1000 rounds in it yet. I will probably pick another one up if the right price comes around.
  3. I was talking to a friend about this and he was talking about his BOB and how he jut upgraded to g17 with the sub 2000. This is the bag he keeps in his car to get home. He was telling me that he was looking at getting rid of his old BOB guns and offered up to me a hipoint c9 and 995 with 2 8round mags and 6 10 round mags for a whopping $200. The 995 has the ATI stock on it. This BOB looks like it is going in the wifes car. She shot both today and likes the 995 more than my Beretta rifle. I have one of the planet of the apes stock on the one at the cabin and I think I am going to get the ATI for that one as well. I know that the inner gun snob in all of you want to knock Hipoints but I have never gotten first hand account of a big problem with them. It is always a friend of my uncles brothers sisters husbands friend blew his hand off or of accounts from people that have never shot one and are pissed that a $150 gun functions properly after there 1200 kimber is in the shop again. I know they are ugly and heavy but I think I like this combo for trunk BOB. The question is does anyone know if they sell holsters for the c9. I want to attach the holster to the bag so the guns don't flop around in the bag.
  4. I thought about going with the 44 mag but the cost and no one but me in the group like the feel of the 44 mag. If I get just me the 44 now I have to stock up another cal.
  5. I want to try my hand at building a 1911. I have done a lot of repairs and customizing but have never built one from ground up. I just cant seem to find a placce that has a frame in stock. I was wondering if there was a local shop that sells them of if anyone knows a good place to get one.
  6. I will probably upgrade those, It was hard to pass up 2 357mags with 300 rounds of ammo for 500. I know a lot of people that have and abuse there Rossi and have never had a problem. I just wanted to get the package together sooner rather than later. I would rather not get caught with my pants down because I was being a gun snob. Not that getting a better gun is being snobish but not getting one for a price you can easily sell for the same price later if needed is dumb. A lesser 357 is better than not having one.
  7. I just don't understand. I NEVER point the gun at ANY part of my body even while cleaning. I even use a bore camera to look down it. I just don't understand how this keeps happening.
  8. What is a good price on a PGA and which brand to get?
  9. I agree, between mosquitos and humidity we would probably be fine
  10. I have had a couple people ask me to keep informed on how the search is going. 2 of them don't think I can come in at budget. set 1- rossi revolver $225 used private sale, Mossberg in 243 $200 used private sale, Ruger $175 used otd lgs. set 2- rossi revolver $225 used private sale, Ruger 10/22 $160 used private sale set 3 Ruger 10/22 $180 used private sale set 4 set 5 I am not having that hard of a time finding the lever action, just trying to decide on which maker. I have made my goal is to buy my guns at a certain price and if I see it less I get it. On July first what ever I have not found used or at a really good deal I will go to my LGS and order. Here is my price list Revolver $250 or less Lever action $400 or less Mossberg in 243 $200 or less Ruger 10/22 $190 or less I do not expect to get all my guns at these prices but I have gotten several so far and if I can get them all at this price I can come in $2500 under the gun budget which will get alot of ammo.
  11. As stated in another post most people see open carry and think you are some type of LE. I was with a friend who OC and we had a waitress mention that they give a LE discount and asked what dept we were with. She was very suprised to find out that we were just 2 guys getting lunch after going to the range. I think as long as you don't act like its a big deal noone else will.
  12. Dolomite- That is exactly why I no longer shoot my walther. I would only trust my MK to last longer than a year the way I shoot. I go to the range 4-5 times a month and shoot probably 600-700 22 each time so I would toast 10000 rounds in less then 6 mo. I buy my 22 in bulk of 10000 at a time so I also think 10000 isnt that much at all.
  13. What you and your wife did was perfect. I would rather put me between the dog and kids than take a chance at the dog jumping up and getting a piece of one of my kids. It was great team work. A stern voice will work most of the time as well but I would always place myself between danger and my family. Something I have seen work amazingly is an air horn. I was at a day camp for dogs when a fight broke out and it was one of those all out brawls and the worker gave a quick burst from the air horn and you would have thought time stood still and many of the dogs layed down the rest just stood still. We carry one everytime we walk just in case. we have tested it at night when all the dogs in the neighborhood were barking and it ended the barking for a good hour. Not sure the reason behind it but it works. That would work when going to the park or on a walk.
  14. That would be awesome! throw in a good argument about keeping a Nagant untouched for collector value and we have a hit.
  15. Just don't ever plan on drinking. I have only tasted alcohol a couple times in my life and that was over 8 years ago. I just don't see me ever needing to drink it. Trade maybe but probably not.
  16. I have some isopropyl stocked up, a lot of other preppers have pushed the idea of stocking up on PGA a lot. I think I will get a little but stock more isopropyl
  17. I have not seen that show. I think any show that is pro gun is a good idea. A TGO show would be alright with me.
  18. Found 2 used 357 revos 3 left. got a great deal. 500 combined with some ammo. Had to travel to get them but used it to see family. Plus it was a private sale so 2 less to raise eyebrows. I got a good lead on a lever action 357 I might have that by the end of the week. If this keeps up I might slide in under 6000 for all 5 of us. looks like I can get more ammo.
  19. not on 35's but pretty cool http://www.unfinishedman.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/197120Vista20Cruiser2020Indy201974-01.jpg there is somethingon the net for everyone
  20. how could you tell in the second one it was pretty much mud brown.
  21. Smith like this http://images.search...umb=pxl.taQsIvY
  22. I am hoping for enough warning for an all out eotw international colapse, If not I will just hold out here. The plan of attack on the guns was formed out of a couple of good ideas in this thread so I did not really come up with it but it made sense to me, but thank you
  23. If it looks like the country is heading for a total loss my whole family is to meet on my property in Canada. It is a 500 acre farm that is completely off the grid, Solar and Hydro power and well water. and plenty of land to build if needed. Otherwise I am staying put here in E TN
  24. I totally agree with your list Moped. I think all of your list is something that can be waited out by secluding and defending yourself. I doubt the last would happen and do feel that we would have enough time to prepare for that.
