  1. I picked one up last week. That is where I caught the bug. thanks for the bullet info. I have not looked at them yet. I will probably go with the franklin tumbler after looking at them. thanks for the info on Unique, I will rethink the powder. Thanks for the catch, I have a set but I think I will get some new ones. What would be a good thrower that works with the lee classic.
  2. I am going to start reloading. I will only be reloading 9mm for right now and then doing .38, .357, and .45. I will probably not get into reloading rifle for a while. As I do in everything gun related I make a pricelist for what I am looking for so if I see it that price or cheaper I stock up. I take the best price I can find and use that as my stock up price. example is if I see non lead 9mm for $20otd I buy at least $100 worth. here are the things I am planning on buying, I just need to know from the reloaders on here if these are the best products for the beginner and what the best price on these items are. Press- Lee classic w/Lee dies Powder- Unique Primers- Federal or winchester Bullets- Not sure what is a good price. looking for plinking only right now Tumbler and media- Have not decided (something basic) Scale- have a Hornady electronic scale (Thanks Tim) Brass- Have plenty Is there anything that I am missing?
  3. Like most "cheaper" guns people are just upset that they paid more and are just trying to justify why the gun they got was worth the pricetag. I like Taurus and have never had a problem, but my all Holy glock has been back to the factory 2 time for defects. I think most people that complain about a gun have never shot said gun.
  4. point well taken, they don't use water that's not from a stream either.
  5. The Winner!!!! French press makes real coffee for men. This is the only way I drink it.
  6. Thanks for the info on the covering. I wanted to see how much sunscreen to bring.
  7. I am visiting family and we want to go shooting and this seems to the closest public rifle range to Memphis. I was wondering if anyone has shot there and if so what is it like? Is the bench area covered? Is there a bench area? Is there another public range closer to Memphis. We would like to shoot some higher power rifles than indoor ranges allow.
  8. I was quoted $8,500 yes I said $8,500to run 40ft of pipe to the road by them and call another place and they will could do it for $350. I called hiller to ask why another place could do it so much cheaper and they said the other guy must be doing it under the table. So I contacted a national contractor and they came out and quoted me $300. I cant imagine that the national brand guy was doing it under the table. Oh by the way with Hiller WE were responsible for reseeding the yard after they left and the other guys included that in the price.
  9. Pretty sure that the owner you are talking about is not around anymore. I have not seen the guy you speak of since the change over. I never delt with that guy one on one but have heard the same type of comments from him about guys I know did not desreve it.
  10. The not addressing the idiot factor is the reason that I did not continue my membership. The last 10 or so time I went it seemed like someone was violating some general safty rules and it was never addressed. I have seen a guy point a loaded weaon at himself to look down the barrel and then fire off a few downrange, mulitiple guys shooting at the same time on a lane, walking around with a loaded weapon in there hand, I even saw a guy shooting blindfolded to practice night shooting. The cust service has gotten a lot better but I do think that not having a dedicated range officer is the only thing standing in the way of them being a goto range. I asked about the pricing being high and the person I talked to said that the managment before was buying at to high of a price and they had to sell off the oldstuff before the new items witht the better pricing could be put out. I think they are still a little high but they still have better prices than the big box stores. They have glocks priced starting at 500, sig 229 for 800, and 1911's starting at 600. They do get guns with extras so that brings the price up so it looks like the prices are high.
  11. I vote for Mongoose!
  12. There is a thing called Snake-B-Gone that can be found at most home improvement stores and works great. I wanted to test it so I tossed a rock down a hole that I saw a snake go in and nothing happened. Waited 10 mins and tossed one of those small mothball sized balls down the hole and out came a snake in seconds and it was out of the yard fast. I then spread that stuff around the yard and have never seen a snake since but the neighbors still have issues.
  13. It has gotten A LOT better in the last 6-8 mo. They got a new manager and seem to be focused on customer service. I have never had a bad experience at CCA but have witnessed an employee being a jerk to someone about a year ago. That guy no longer works there so I think they have done some weeding out of the bad seeds.
  14. I did something similar, If it is possible to get the slide back a little. Slide it back and get the slide cover plate off and take out the pin and it should just slide the rest of the way off.
  15. I think putting the screen name on display would not be a bad idea.
  16. They wont because it is a clearance item and clearance is exempt from the price match.
  17. That is awesome. to bad it is not here.
  18. Oh come on, you mean you don't just have that sitting around all the time. lol
  19. That is probably have to do, The crack is right behind the checkering, so the dowl would be really noticeable. I guess I am not looking for pretty just shootable. Is there an adhesive that works best for this type of repair. I would like to fill the crack with something to really make sure there is no movement and to give the dowl a little extra hold and support
  20. I finally started getting all my guns in one spot and had some of my childhood guns shipped to me from my family. Everything got here is the same condition that I remember except my mossberg 810. It was my main hunting rifle from the age 11 to 17 and after getting it I remember why I stopped using it. It has a crack in the stock that made me worried about it snapping the stock in half if I fired it again. So here is my questions, Is there anybody that makes a synthetic stock that will fit, I can't seem to find one. Does anyone have a beater mossberg 810 sitting around that I could buy and refinish that stock? Is there a safe way to repair the stock(minus a screw shoved through it hillbilly style like suggested by a "reputable" custom shop) I would like to start shooting this gun again, I loved shooting it and it shot nice groups for me back then so I would like to see how it does now.
  21. It must be just the middle TN stores because neither the Knox or Memphis stores have them. My FIL and buddy run service route and have to do stops in WW and I asked them to keep an eye out for me. They said they have been to all of them and all are selling them for 15
  22. I know there was at least one, My friend picked it up early in the day yesterday.
  23. Missed it today but got a call from a friend that said there was a guy there that looked enough like me that he went up and said hi to the guy and that guy freaked out on him. I wish I had gone to see a 5'6" guy yelling at a 6'5" guy. Not really sure what would have provked the guy to yell at my friend but it had to have been a sight to see.
  24. I might pop in for a little bit. I will be wearing a Detroit Lions hat.
