  1. -4 of the usuals, what too soon?
  2. As I recall it is similar in size to the Jubilee facility here in Knoxville. I think I might check it out, provided its not $10. Just can't see paying that for an unproven show. Let us know if you hear/see anything else about this show.
  3. That is what I kind of thought was the case but just wanted to make sure before I get into the reloading to deep. I will post up some pics when I go out and test fire some rounds.
  4. I have an old winchester model 70 in 220 swift it was our coyote gun on the farm. I have not really shot it a lot because ammo was harder to find and fairly high for what I would use it for. I was looking around on some sites and ran across a guy looking for something I had and had a 220 swift die set that he was using as trade bait, so I bit. I got the dies today and I got a better deal than I thought as it had the trimmer and shell holder as well. My question is has anyone reloaded this round? Do the reloads perform that much better than the factory stuff? Being that it is a hotter round does it affect the amount of reloads you can get out of the brass? I can't decide if I should reload 200 or not. I don't think that reloading is going to make me shoot the rifle a ton more but I might enjoy it more with my own loads.
  5. Wow, item already sold. Listed it for $22 buy it now with free shipping. My fees came out to $2.92 paid to ebay. $1.03 to paypal and $2.75 to ship for a total of $6.70. $22-6.70= $15.30. I guess that was not bad but still that was almost 30% to sell an item. I did list another one of the same items as an auction with $2.75 for shipping. I could save $1 if that one sells for $22, so I think I will stick with Buy It Now.
  6. You can golf there http://www.myfoxdetroit.com/story/18945787/2012/07/03/charlie-leduff-golfs-the-length-of-detroit Who's up for 18!
  7. I am getting 50 listings per month for free. I can't really up my shipping and handling because the ones that actually sell give free shipping. I just listed one, put it a little higher than what I wanted but it looks like I will make $17 on a $22 item. I thought you had to put in sales tax but it does not have sales tax added to the item. We will see when it sells. I have the items on CL at 75% off retail for 6 weeks and not a single reply so I figure this is not the market for them.
  8. I read that there is a 11% fee for using ebay. The other problem I saw was that the people that don't include shipping are sitting on these items so I couldn't raise the shipping cost and if I raise the price of the item I run into being more expensive than the others. Plus if I use the auction style and not a buy it now I run into it selling for less then shipping and the reserve fee is really high. I might just be way off but I am not seeing how on anything less than $20 can make any money. I might try one and see how it comes out.
  9. I bought a bulk lot of some stuff so I could get 5 things out of it. It was well worth it but now I am stuck with all these extra pieces. I was thinking about putting them up on ebay because local things like CL and other resale sights are not working. I have watched these items get bids and sell for a decent price for that item. I had a few questions about using Ebay. I know they are in it to make money so there are fees but when I added up the fees from Ebay, Fees from Paypal and shipping it does not seem like there is much profit. As an example one of the items I have sells (yes have actually followed and seen it sell) usualy for $15. As I see it I pay 11%($1.6) sales tax 9% (1.35) insertion fee .50 Paypal fee $1 and then shipping of no less than $3. I am now at $7.50 for a $15 item. I have seen that the ones that charge shipping dont sell so I would have to just wrap that in the price. Am I off on this or is this pretty accurate. I have tried selling this stuff for WELL below the ebay price hoping someone else wants to resell these but it looks like if I want these gone I will have to do it myself, so just trying to see if it is worth it.
  10. There was an article that had all of there pics on it but now I can't find it. Maybe it was taken down.
  11. couldn't they have said he was being detained for inciting a panic. My guess is he was not just strolling down the block with an OC. I would guess that he was pacing around. I have people walk past my house all day and never pay attention until the person has gone by my house 3-4 times. I also would not have noticed an OC if someone was just walking by and continued down the street. I really think he was looking for this action to be taken by the cops, which gives the rest of the gun community a bad name. I think it is great that he knew the law and stood up for it, I just don't think creating a situation where he can prove his knowledge is smart.
  12. that was great, thanks for the laugh. Dude does need to man up though.
  13. Why am I double posting, It has only been on this thread.
  14. I have dibs on 10 days. it will probably take 9 days to off the ground.
  15. great BOB knifes, I think I will pick up a couple.
  16. I have seen a lot of military activity lately, must be training time in Tennessee.
  17. This is the closest to what I saw I could find. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Atomics_MQ-1_Predator I saw it in the after noon west of Farragut
  18. thanks for the glue tips. I was thinking about going the countersunk screw route.does anyone know of any metal plugs availible. that would save some sanding and staining. I clamped the stock down and the split is not visible at all, so I will not have to sand and repair the finish of the stock so metal plugs would make things easier to fix the old stock I am going to pick up some maple to make a stock when i go up to visit family. I think that will get me what I want for look and it is a wood I have worked with.
  19. If I was going to buy a new I would like the drop in. If I am going to pay for it I don't want to have to spend much time on it. I have several pieces of oak sitting around from other projects so the cost is pretty much nothing, Also I have family in MI that have a mill so I can get any size piece I need cut for me. That is part of the reason I was looking into making it, if I mess up I can just get a new piece made. Thanks for the tips, had not thought of 2 pieces and then glueing. That sounds a lot easier than making it out of one. What glue do you use? But it would be a hand made piece of kindling, I could put it in my outdoor fireplace I built last summer. lol
  20. I thought about refinishing the stock but in my search just to relace it I relized how little I liked the current stock. I will at least fix this stock while I work on the other stock. It is just sad that I can buy a replacement stock for most of my other guns for under a $100 and this one if I find one under $100 I still have to fit the barrell and finish the stock. I think it would be cool to hand this gun to my son with a stock that his dad made. He would be only the 2nd generation to own the gun but the 4th generation to shoot this gun.
  21. does anyone have a link to the article that had the pics of these guys. I think I know who they are, if I am right I always found there dealings at the shows a little odd. I backed out of a deal with them because I got a bad feeling.
  22. it is a Mossberg 810a. thanks I will call Boyds on Monday
  23. I am thinking of making a stock for my 30-06 I used as a kid. The gun is in near perfect shape minus the stock. When I was 17 it fell out of the treestand and the stock cracked. I have repaired the stock but don't like the hillbilly look of screws in the stock. I have looked online and no stocks are availible. I have made many wood grips and knife handles but never gone as far as making a stock. I was wondering if anyone here has done this? What would be the best wood to use? The wood has to be fairly easy to work with and still strong enough to handle the round. What are some tips on doing this. As in all my woodworking projects I will be using no power tools so what would be some challenges.
  24. A neighbor covered his roof with panels and is not happy at all. While talking to him he said that he paid near $30,000 to have them put up and he has NEVER even covered half of his electric bill. He said at his current savings it will take 30 years to break even, that is provided he does not need repairs or service on them. I looked into doing it and to off set my powerbill it would take almost a $50,000 to power my home and if I had to take out a loan for the system it would cost over 200 a month to pay off the system. No way I looked at it I could never find a savings. I went the cutting the bill by getting the most energy efficient things I could. I cut our monthly bill by 60%. It only cost me $2500 to cut 60% on which I will break even on that investment this year.
  25. I got a complete lower for less than $95 shipped. http://www.gearhog.com/?rf=259585 (helping out a friend)
