Do you ever see other people carrying?
LI0NSFAN replied to gregintenn's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I was spotted and stopped yesterday. I was was carrying OWB with a shirt over it and was probably printing pretty hard. I don't carry ALL the time but everytime I have to hit the WW on Walbrook in West Knoxville I make sure I am. I had a bad experience there so I make sure I am ready this time. I had to bring my kids this time and that was apparently what the guy had a problem with. Here is what went down: A guy came up to me and asked me if I had a gun on me, I asked if he was security, we both did not answer the questions. After a short awkward pause he started into me about how I was a bad parent for having my kids around guns. He got pretty loud and started to cause a scene. He got loud enough that it scared my daughter who began to cry. At this point someone apparently told security, the arrived just at the right time, I was about to start yelling back. When security came up they promptly escorted the guy out and asked me what happened. One of the security guys laughed as the took the other guy away and said he is getting tired of how ignorant people are about guns. He gave my kids a couple of stickers and told us to have a nice day. They also had a guy waiting at the door to make sure I made it to the car ok. This was the first time I have been spotted that I know of. As much as I dislike WW, I was impressed with the way they handled the situation. -
Do you ever see other people carrying?

I had an eye opening situation when I was in Bible study last year. There were about 15 guys meeting that day and one of the guys had to take his gun out of its holster to adjust after he sat down on it funny. A couple of the guys laughed and said it happens everyonce and a while to them. The conversation went on about ways to carry and then someone asked how many were carrying at that moment. We all decieded to place the guns on the table at the same time and wouldnt't you know EVERY guy there was carrying. We had met every week for a year and until that day we had no idea the rest of us were carrying, The funny part is that there were 2 more guns than people so that ment we had 2 guys that had back ups on them. My Sig and 2 revolvers were the only large frame guns the rest were subcompacts and I think that had a lot to do with the fact we never saw anyone carrying. -
That guy with the dog is usually somewhere on Cedar Bluff. I saw him get in a newer Tacoma, tossed his sign in the back of it and drove off. I talked to a couple that panhandled in Memphis, the said they cleared six figures doing it. They would hang out around the basketball games and any other big event. They said during Memphis in May they made 40,000 one year. They now run a shelter for the homeless and regret what they did so they fund the shelter themselves and have real jobs now. They feel it is the only way they can pay it back.

I actually just got my gun fund high enough to pay the 359+tic and transfer and went to order it today and noticed the price hike. I think that the gun is finally getting some good words spread about it and the price went up to the MSRP because people will pay it. I just have to keep looking for a used one or save up some more money. I will have one of these guns.

Fall Smoky Mt Gun Collectors Show - 9/29 & 30
LI0NSFAN replied to lacon's topic in Events and Gatherings
Good show as always with SMGCA. good deals to be had. -
Never got the Flu in my whole life until I got the shot. I got it when My daughter was born so she had less of a chance of getting it from me. They told me that the shot was for the most common strains, I guess that odd ball got me. I am on the fence about getting it this year. I have 2 under 3yo so I will probably get it either way.

It was actually a really great game. The last quarter was one of the most exciting I have seen.

It was a fun game to watch and would just like to say congratulations to all of the Titans fans out there. Your team looks good and you have a very smart QB. Some really great plays on both sides of the ball. Good luck this season and maybe we can get a rematch at the end of the season.LOL

I just need my glock dipped. I am talking to my father in law about him doing it, he is one of those people that can do anything and is very meticulous. I am looking at just dipping a slide. He might be a third that is willing to dip for us.

My father in law works on elevators and he only buys maglites. He has tried out all kinds of lights. The first time they fall 30 stories down the elevator shaft they never work again. He has owned flashlights that range from $30-$300 and the $30 Mini maglite pro has fallen 30 stories several time and still works. He gave all the guys in the family one for Christmas and I find myself using it more than my surefire.

I have wanted to try this but know I would mess it up. If either of you do it, let me know and i might offset some of your cost if you dip for me.

you might want to ebay that stock, there are several with bids on them for over $30 and still have days left. The synthetics are hitting about $50 when they close. I even saw one whith a super cheap sling on it close at $80. I was dumbfounded.

I looked and looked for 2years. I was given basically everything but the the receiver. When I could find them for sale people wanted 140+ and that was just a stripped one, a complete receiver was180+. I was trying to do some builds for a camp for gun safty. I gave up and just gave the camp the money to go out and buy new ones. The cheapest I could build one using used parts was $190. I looked everywhere and people where jast asking a fortune for parts. Best prices I found were $90 for stripped receiver, $30 for complete bolt, $40 for complete lower, $20 for barrel, $10 vblock and screws, $10 stock, $10 for charring handle and bolt spring assembly. It just sucks you can almost buy a new one cheaper.

My 2yo found one of my issues of G&A and hid it in her room so she could find it during naptime. I looked on her monitor and she was pointing at the pics and saying, wow, cool, and pretty. It was a funny time in our house.

I will take it if you pass.

I feel the person is what makes a Sniper but it seems that a lot of people sell anything as a Sniper rifle. Saw a SKS Sniper rifle today, just seems silly to me to call everything a Sniper rifle. I guess I hold the title of Sniper to a higher standard. I think what Snipers do deserves a bunch of respect. It would be like calling a pinto with racing stripes and some random stickers a NASCAR.

I am getting tired of every rifle being called a sniper rifle. This term is thrown around A LOT in classifieds on gun sites. I have seen everythig from a malin 22 to a 16 inch barreled AR called a sniper rifle. I have several guns that can hit a pie plate at serious long distance with consistancy and I would never call them a sniper, they are my hunting rifles. I guess I don't really know what I would consider a sniper rifle but I don't think there are many true snipers out there. If some of you know what qualifies a gun as a sniper please share with me so I can add to my gun knowledge.

chemotheropy and Radiation are worse than cancer in my Opinion
LI0NSFAN replied to plank white's topic in General Chat
I have seen results from both options, My Father in law beat stage 4 colon cancer and a family friend is now fighting stage 3 colon cancer. My father in law went the chemo route and it ALMOST killed him. After he made it through he found out that one of the chemical ins chemo gave him all the side effects and only increased his survival rate 2%. We all wish the doctors would have told him that before he started, he would have not used that one drug. He made it through and is doing great 5 years later, he has had 5 all clear scans so it looks like he is cancer free. The family friend that had stage 3 colon cancer went the Gerson route. She juiced every day and watched her PH levels all the time. She went back to the doctors for a scan 6mo after starting the Gerson plan. They told her not only did the cancer not go away it has spread. She still did not want chemo and continued the juicing and PH checking and it has been a year and she is now in hospice and is not expected to make it to Halloween. She looks healthy and is very alert but her body is shutting down one organ at a time. I think that both options are viable but not in all cases. I think that doing both might be the best bet, My father in law wishes that he would have done the Gerson in conjunction with chemo minus that one chemical. If anyone in my family get diagnosed I will strongly suggest doing both. -
The sad part is someone had to sell that to the Pawn shop for around $20 for them to sell it for $50. I wish those people would call me first. I would have given them $25.

Have all 3 and shoot the hi-point the most and the Beretta the least. I have noot had any luck keeping the storm working. I have had it at the gunsmith 4 time for different things. I like the sub for the capacity you can get. I would rethink crossing off the hipoint, everyone I know that has one would shoot that over the other 2. I am only keeping the Beretta because I spent to much to get it and can't stomach taking a hit on it.

I was selling some stuff that retails for $400 and it was still sealed in the package. I was asking $130 figuring the first offer over $100 would get it. I got 15-20 offers, none of them were over $20. I mean come on they are still sealed in the original box. I am all for negotiating but some people just make me mad with there lowballing.
