  1. Or new policy will come out the last week of November as well. My insurance went up about 25% last year with a higher deductable. I am just wondering what it will do this year. I am Type 1 Diabetic, and can't buy insurance. Basically I am Screwed.

I was told that pre exsisting could not hurt you but when talking to the live help while shopping health insurance they asked me if I had any and specifically asked about arthritis. What does arthritis have to do with anything, everyone can be diagnosed with it.

  2. There is so much wrong with the reporting which is part of what makes it funny. I think it would have been awesome to see him running through the parking lot with sword held high like some civil war battle cry.

Lets take bets on what store he was there to shop at: I say Gamestop, as an exstore manager of GS i saw a lot of guys like him.

  3. You know, only some insurance companies are participating in the Obamacare exchanges.

I'm wondering if the ones who do are also the ones who are jacking their existing prices on non-ACA policies the most.

Would like to see some comprehensive state by state data on just which companies are offering the ACA coverage, anyone find any without me having to do the research?

Pretty sure that is the case. We have United Healthcare and they also take care of Medicare/Medicaid/Tenncare and we constantly having to make it clear that we are not on those. I did see United on the list of ACA insurers. The plan we have is similar to one on ACA and it is almost half what we pay and my wifes company pays 3 times what we do for our insurance. I can't wait until I have to claim what her work pays for insurance as income, It will be bittersweet seeing 6 figures on a tax statement. We both have strived to make that and when we finally do it is because we have to claim something that used to be a benefit. I am starting to believe it would be better if my wifes company just gave her the $20,000 raise and forced us into ACA.

Side note- my spellcheck on IOS7 sucks

  4. Currently mine is around $400 dollars a month for me and wifey, but.....

That is the cheap one which i can assume won't be there next year so its going to be about $520 a month.

Also i am having a baby in 2 months which changes the insurance to about $700 a month. So who knows how much it is going to be next year.

I told my boss that i can't bring home less money than i did 3 years and 2 raises ago. We will see.

My mom just called and hers went up 45%. She talked to HR and they are having a very rough day. She also found out that the can no longer pay employees less than $9 and hour. Apparently there is some kind fee that employees have to pay and if that brings there pay to less than Min wage the company has to give the employee a raise so that they make Min wage after the fee. I am getting ready to move to another country, any suggestions>

  5. Just got our health insurance packet today for 2014. Our max out of pocket went up 18% and our weekly contribution went up 30% and they eleminated our HRA (Health Care Rembursment Account- free money we get for doing preventative visits). We are planning on having a baby next year we will max out our Out Of Pocket so we do have to take that into account. I did the math and we are going to see an increase of $3,300 for the year. I can not believe that my insurance is going to increase almost $300 a month. I went to the joke of a website for ACA and we do not qualify at all, we are eliminated for multiple reasons. I fudged some numbers on the site just to see what some of the policies look like. I found one that had similar benifits as ours and it is only $400 a month. I think it is INSANE that if we did not work as hard as we did to get where we are I could take home over $500 more a month through ACA. I should not have to pay more for insurance than people that get ACA for the same coverage. ACA should be bare minimum insurance kind of like all the "State required" car insurance. I think I will end here, I am so pissed right now I might send my BP through the roof and I now can't afford to go to the hospital.

  6. I shaved my head for several years. The key seeed to be the hot shower. I liked the headblade for speed but really enjoyed a straight razor. I had practice with a straight razor, y Grandfather taught e how to shave with a straight razor, so I would not suggest going with a straight razor unless you already know how to do it.

Soething we did for a friend that needed to shave his head from cancer was get a couple of guys and wee all went out to a barber shop that shaves with a straight razor and all got a good shave. It was a great tie for all, our friend liked the fact that it felt just like a bunch of guys going out to get a good shave. He said he felt more noral that day then he had felt in a long time.

  7. Recently I've debated going back to a smaller size tire on the diesel. This video assures me that will not happen.

I have been trying to convince the wife to let me upgrade some things on the SUV, push bar, Bigger tires, runflats, and some mild suspension upgrades. I think this would be a good video to show her.

  8. that was the same type of news my wifes company gave all the part timers. Part time for her company was anything under 38hours. Now due to the new healthcare rules the cut all part timers to 25 hours. my wife just had to hire 13 new employees to help keep all part timers at 15hours. He did create more jobs just like he promised but now you have to work 2 jobs for the same hours.

  9. I know with unemployment I could not refuse a drug test if a potential employer required it. If I did it was considered passing on a job, which you are not allowed to do. I asked the lady at the unemployment office what would happen if I passed on a job, she said I would lose ALL my benefits. I was hired by my first interview so passing on a job offer was never an issue. I only got one week of benefits but it did help a lot.
  10. We use our fire pit a lot and I have started trying to light it with just stuff I find in our tree line. I have started it everytime with firesteel, it gets esier as you do it. It was very hard the first time and then I started to get the hang of things.

  11. Shop at Costco and you might as well just be giving your money to anti gun campaigns.  No wonder we can't make any headway for gun rights, we have gun "enthusiasts" that are spending their money at places like Costco.  Sorry, but when it comes down to my beliefs there are no if, ands, or buts.

Well Sams is trying to take my wifes job so I guess I lose either way.  But if my wife still has a job I can still donate to Pro gun causes. And after you figure the little profit after paying overhead and wages I probably donate more.

  12. Anyone know if either have ground chicken. I can't eat much else other than chicken and we go through 10lb+ a week. Family of five and the boy has a big appetite so we go through a lot of chicken. I know that both will carry chicken breast.
  13. My family recently made the switch from Costco to Sam's Club due to their anti carry policy.  We've been going there (Costco) for at least two years and I never saw it posted. Someone here on TGO had posted a link to http://friendorfoe.us/ a while back and I noticed that our Cool Springs Costco was listed as being posted.  Sure enough, next time we went I walked all around the front entrance area and finally saw it over on the far right side.  There is no way you can even see it coming in over by the liquor store on the left or through the "main entrance", only if you walk in from the far right.  So anyway we made the switch.

First thing I noticed is the people in Sam's "appear" much more down to earth then those in Costco, and there are certainly fewer Obama stickers on the cars out front.

    Sam's pros:

    not against CCW

Corp level membership a bit cheaper

Larger selection in several categories (particularly snacks, diapers, baby formula, protein powder)

Monthly coupons are automatic when you purchase sale item, no need to bring the coupon book in

Return policy seems on par with Costco so far

    Sam's cons:

The "rewards" back on the corp level card are nowhere near as good as Costco's

    Their "snack bar" food sucks.....bad

    Costco pros:

    Excellent return policy

    Incredibly friendly workers

    Better selection on clothing

Good rewards on corp membership.  (If you spend about $200 or more a month in there it covers your membership cost)

    Costco cons:

    Posted no carry

    Limited selection in some catagories

Low quantities of their seasonal items, so you have to know when its coming in otherwise it will be picked over pretty bad

That is a very helpful breakdown. It seems both are pretty equal in most areas. With Sams being owned by Wal-mart ( who has openly stated they want to run my wies company out of buisness) I have to decide between a company that attacks my wifes company or my carry rights. I think the only purchases we have made at WW in the last 8-9yrs are gun related. I think I will check to see if Costco here is posted and keep my membership until carry becomes an issue. It is getting harder and harder these days to agree with Corp policy.

  14. Costco doesn't like my gun being in their store so this one is a no brainer for me.

Was not aware they were posted. I have only been to a couple and all were in different states and was not looking for posted places when on vacation. I may have to swing by and check out the door.

  15. I have to decide if I want to get a Costco or Sams membership, because there are so many of you out there that like to debate who is better I thought I would let you convince me which to get. I live closer to Sams but am near the Costco regularly so the location is not a big deal.

JUst need to know which one has better brands, better prices and customer service.

  16. We have the Internet and it is constantly going out. We were told that we are actually past the point of reliability on the lines so there is not much they can do about it. I was going to switch but since they came out and put 2 more ground wires on it I seem to get less outages. When it is working it is very fast for the cost. I would first see how far you are from a sub station and if they say you are close enough than you will probably be fine. When the tech comes out ask a lot of questions about propper grounding and noise on the lines, plus double check with him if HE thinks you are to far from the sub station. The techs are way nicer and more knowledgable then the sales people and they get paid the same if they hook you up or not.

This could become quite a hobby/addiction (trying to get your water and electric bills as close to $0 as possible)!

It is a lot of fun to see if you can beat the previous years usage for the same mo. or seeing if you can get the bill under $100 for both power and water. I have done that 2 times, in the last year. I expect to do it several more times because we just got a newer washer and dryer and have already seen a BIG drop in water usage. It is a fun hobby and so far I have saved more than I have spent.

The lowest we have been is 680KWH and 2 CCF, our bill was only $85 that month. but that was before the service increase last winter.
