  1. WBIR (local TV station) had a camera rolling pointed right at David's booth today.  Maybe he'll be on the news.

The guy for WBIR tried to get me to go on camera. They were trying to find someone to tell them how hard it is to find ammo. He asked me about buying ammo,I don't need any 22 so I have not had an issue finding ammo, after hearing that he said thank you and walked away. He asked several others around me and he never turned the camera on so I guess he did not get many takers to be on camera.

The show was full of the same cast of characters that are there every time selling WAY overpriced ammo and stuff they got on sale on black friday for 5 times what they paid. I saw a guy with several LPK's for $145 that I got for $30 online. I know it was purchased online because it was an upgraded kit only available on black friday. I was reminded why I dont go unless I need stuff from David.

  2. I have been looking at some classifieds (guns and cars). The number one lie is "all original", when it is clearly not. Here are 2 examples

1971 shortbed pick up. It was a fair price because the ad said it was all original parts and restored. I looked at the picks and notice right away that was a lie. First it had 1990's bucket seat, a CD player, the floor had a cut in it where they had change it from a manual to an automatic, lastly and most annoying was that it had an S10 bed on it. It was a good job, everything looked like they had done everything right but IT WAS NOT ORIGINAL!!!!!!!!

Next was a Sks it was listed as an unfired numbers matching. After reading the discription an looking at the pics you find out that the rifle has forced matched pieces, bayonet that was not even correct for the rifle, and was beat up to the point it had to be a combat weapon. The price was fair for a mint sks but a beat up non matching sks the price was high.

Why do people think they can get away with lies like that? These were by far not the only classified I have found with massive lies in. These were just the 2 I saw today. Ok rant over.

  3. In my somewhat experienced/somewhat ingornant opinion, a dutch oven with coals underneath and on top will outcook any oven anywhere.

also, it's not PC, but we always cooked "hobo stew"  ... ground beef chunks, cut potatoes, peppers, onions, and whatnot... wrap it up in aluminum foil and bury it in the fire - somewhere in the coals.  Wait a few minutes, pull it out and chow down right out of the foil  ... probably ensured we would all get parkinsons,... but it was so good.

In a survival situation, searing is great.  You need to kill bacteria, but you can maximize the nutrition value of your food by not overcooking it (because you will surely be rationing... eating less calories than normal).  On the other hand, if you come down with a food-born illness when mobility is requred to survive,... that could be the fatal factor.

We always cook "hobo Stew" when we make a camp fire. I love it!

  4. I made mine out of coke cans.  Mine is also a bit different in design.  I found that a pushpin makes the perfect hole.

This one boils water at room temperature in around 4 minutes.  The drawback is once the fuel is in, it's in until it burns out.  The design above doesn't have that problem.  I like that, since you don't waste fuel.

The yellow bottle of HEET (methanol) works well for these little stoves, because it burns clean.  Isopropyl alcohol has water in it and smokes and will black up your cook set.

This is the style I have. I do like the other for not having to waste the fuel. I think I might give it a try as well.

  5. You know most all sports and TV companies have that same rule. So if you stop watching football for that reason you should probably stop wastching TV all together, You can see guns on Tv all day long but you can not advertise it, I think that rule maybe from the networks and the NFL just is putting that rule in to avoid an issue. The NFL is all about money, the ratings fror the superbowl is already through the roof so I doubt they are afraid of hurting someones feelings.

  6. Go the next morning. Never anyone there and the real deals come out. The thousands who go the night before are there for the 3 laptop's they have on sale or whatever it may be. Every year Walmart puts out a big cardboard display of Iron Man and G Shock watches for 25 and 30 bucks. The next day after everyone's done fighting over their 10 dollar waffle irons I just go take my pick. Bass pro carries a fleece zip up shirt I like. They cost around 35 bucks. Every year the day after black Friday, there's always a bin of them for 5 bucks. Monday back to 35. Same with Best Buy, last year people jumping through hoops to get a ticket to buy a Tv. Next day, stacks of the same TVs at the same prices. 32 gb PNY thumb drives and 32 GB Class 10 SD card's. 5 bucks but no one looking on the little racks up frint. No need to wait in line just go the next day. No one there and the real deals are out.

This is what I do. I don't see the need to be inline for 6 hours to save some cash on something I probably don't need. I hit Target on Sat last year and scored most of the doorbusters that I wanted. I was talking to the manager and she said that they find A LOT of the doorbusters stashed in different places by customers. They go and clean up the store and find them and put them back in the displays. I even saw one of the 50 inch TV's they had on massive sale the day before(i have a 60 so no need for a 50). I always shop the Saturday now.

  7. I know several of their managers (one was my assistant at UT) and if you talked to one of the managers I know, it will be handled swiftly. The down side to big box retail is that the corp policies only allow a slap on the wrist for the first couple of times. I have seen the phone ring like that before and all were just standing around, so I know that it has happend before.

  8. Idk where to get the tabs, but have you tried ensure? My papaw had to drink it when he needed nutrition and couldn't hold anything else down.

Sent barefoot from the hills of Tennessee

They need a way to get the nutrition without the "waste" his bowls are completely block with cancer and that is why he cant keep anything down.

  9. I have a family member in hospice and he can not keep anything down long enough to get the nutrition that he needs. They are stopping the NG tube on Sunday and I would like to have a bottle of survival tabs to try and get him some nutrition before they stop the NG. I can not seem to find them in a retail store anywhere. If you know of anyplace between here and Atlanta that would be great, Thanks.

  10. The only thing I have purchased for my mosins besides ammo was a Brass stacker scope mount. I found that one of them was way more accurate than others so I slapped a nice scope on it and I might take that one out hunting. I picked mine up for less than $100 and I have not seen one sell lately for less than $130 so the mount was a decent investment. I can't see spending $600 on a mosin

That being said, I too may have a tacticool mosin before to long.

  11. If that's supposed to be a carbon fiber reinforced polymer, they're in desperate need of some process development to get the fibers located in the right places and oriented in the right direction.

That said, I really don't understand the obsession with reducing the weight of a rifle that isn't heavy to begin with and is generally only carried from the truck to the firing line and back. The compromises don't seem worthwhile.

Because secretly we all are navy seals in hiding just waiting for SHTF. Weight means everything when you have to carry everything you need to save the world. LOL

  12. If this is not communist strong armed tyranny, then I don't know what is. This is the kind of government tyranny crap that is gonna start a revolt at the voting polls or elsewhere. The American people don't like to be forced into buying something they don't want and don't need or even have their property stolen from them. This is pure government theft.

That story has been going around FB, I am always cautious about believing stuff on there. My sister opted out and has not gotten any threatening email. I can't imagine they would take a license away for opting out. That would make it harder for his followers to vote him in for a third term. I do think if you fail to pay the "tax" by not filing taxes for several years you would face the same penalties as a normal tax evasion case. Again I would be careful about what you believe on FB. I would not put this type of thing past this admin.
  13. I was going through some popular mechanics online articles and came aross an article from 2004. It talks about a gun the would allow you to pretty much pick up and fire 25 different cals. all you need to do is load them and pull the trigger. It is called a Medusa 47, I did reserch and now I want one. It would be the perfect gun for the BOB. I know a lot of the 25 cals are hard to find rounds and not used much a.nymore. I still think having the ability to fire 380,9mm,357, and 38 all without changing anything is awesome. I just need to find one or two to pack in the BOBs

  14. Clearly a violation of TNs statutes concerning the carrying of bladed tools. I expect the TN sheriffs association is already drafting the petition to have him arrested.

LOL...... I did not even think about that.
