  1. So, what's the word on Park Overall, the probable Dem candidate ?
  2. Friends and I discussed just quietly buying the protesters lunch, to show them who we, and CFA really are.
  3. whoa. grace under fire. I would be honored to count this young lady as a friend. So much class. I will have to frequent CFA more often. I love Bob Bekkel's comments - "kill him". "he had a right to say" that trash.
  4. Lebanese women are very pretty. I love the olive skin tone. But I have to admit, I never seed any kissing each other, especially at a fast-food resturant.
  5. I think I'll just try to make an NRA convention some day.
  6. When LGBT (and other liberals) begin to seriously fight to minimize abortions, I will seriously entertain their dialogue about calling civil relationships by the word "marriage". When they work to preserve the actual civil rights of the defensless (embryos and fetuses that that in the absense of extreme prejudice will normally form humans) then I will reconsider my personal definitions of legitimate civil rights to reflect more in their favor. Until then, rewording a definition is not on my list of priorities.
  7. It is also about bullying. Tired of getting shoved around for having traditional beliefs. Oh yeah. At least two customers carried weapons inside of Chik-Fil-A today, and nothing happened.
  8. at 9pm, the one in Turkey Crrek, Knoxville was packed out probably well over 200 people, and drive was solid for about a block. The manager told us it was the smallest crowd since they opened this morning. After we left, someone posted that it was running out of food.
  9. yet there are fairly specific figures noted around the media, etc. on the number of rounds associated with the drum mag. Is it possible that he it dropped the drum after a hang-up, cleared the gun, and inserted a standard mag ? (not that I really trust any accounts on this, media, blogs, or else). Just pointing out it is possible that it used both types of mags.
  10. i know.... I am attempting to have a dialogue with the TWRA FB site, and inquired - Here is what I have from them so far - I have followed up with "what is the purpose of this regulation in regards to private lands?" SO, apparently, during all of big game seasons, even on private property, you have to have a big game stamp to hunt predators with centerfire rifles (and not at all during archery season).. This is absolutely contradictory to previous, clearly written regs regarding private lands, even just two years ago.
  11. Not doubting your account at all, and no doubt there is bias amongst the wildlife enforcement officers. However, unless it is an under the radar incremental approach, it makes no sense to apply to only 40 days of the year and not the rest (as deer can be poached year round, and even with rimfire equipment). The safety analysis would also fail logic (and lack of logic *is* a root cause in many of the regs).
  12. Time to start looking for a 5mm RMR. Aguila makes ammo for them. Anyone aware of a bigger rimfire ?
  13. Is there a decent source out there for the actual number of charges/prosecutions of poachers? Looking through web searches finds a lot of articals on just a very few cases. The guys who poach may do it a lot (Like Ft. Campbell & Sumner County cases a few years ago) , but it seems not many cases are reported for any given year.
  14. Which reminds me: Alan Ricks (Lord rest his soul) told me that most of the poachers used .22LR, including the guys that did the elk up at Briceville. If Howler is correct, then more of the "punish the good guys because that will stop the bad ones". But honestly, I doubt this, as centerfire is not banned during non-deer and off-seasons (Coyote is otherwise year round).
  15. And then there are my personal favorites - Navel Gazing, and Delusions of Grandeur
  16. In previous years, there was no such restriction on private land. There were limitations on WMA's, etc. Not saying it don't happen, but I have never seen or called in a coyote close enough that I thought I could cleanly kill with a rimfire. -edit - I sent questions via FB message to TWRA B.
  17. yeah, I am confused. It is not in last years guide (in regards to private land).
  18. From the 2012-13 TN Huntguide This is new, I think. pretty much eliminates 4 weeks nearly six weeks of centerfire varmint hunting on private property this year.... http://www.eregulati...HD-FINAL-LR.pdf Page 15, Misc. # 8 During an archery only or muzzleloader/ archery only deer, bear or elk season, furbearers may not be taken with rifles and handguns using centerfire ammunition. During the gun/muzzleloader/archery seasons, furbearers may be taken by legal big game hunters licensed for the weapon they are using
  19. it is illegal for a public sector official to incite striking by public sector employees. I 'spose laws are just for us, not Mr. Bloombug.
  20. INMO, surplus radios aren't what they used to be (easily modified for effective ham use). Homebrewers are best suited for using military components. A *great* guy to deal with is Allen Bond - http://www.mgs4u.com/index.html You can also find stuff at Surplus Sales of Nebraska, but it is radio's version of CTD. I have modified surplus amplifiers, deployed military antenna support structures, and on occaision used the radio equipment. The radios themselves generally are specialized / single purpose, often requiring significant modifications for amateur use, draw significant power, and are heavier. The plus is that they are mil-spec. Hard to break.. now hardware, it is a different matter. Cool stuff out there for assembling projects In summary, personally, I put my $ into antennas, towers, decent feedline, and a few choice rigs known for receiver specs.
  21. Obviously had a HCP badge.
  22. By the time Internet government shutdown happens, I will have resorted back to off-grid coms and gone-to-ground. Been looking for a reason to dump Comcrap anyway.
  23. Removable/stowable is the key to the larger antennas. My truck looked relatively normal in moments of take-down. On HF, If you plan to even do 6m - 20M HF, bonding all the panels, doors, hood, bed, frame, exhaust, etc. is critical to a satisfactory operation. It is easy, and does not affect the appearance of the vehicle. Provides a *much* larger counterpoise for the antennas (increases radiation efficiency dramatically), and lowers vehicle RFI / emmissions and road static, and you end up with a broader SWR curve. Having done all this, my take is HF is a waste of time short of doing it right. It is very frustrating to struggle in qso's, when for a few hours work it can be almost as comfortable as running a dipole at home. AS for 40M, I used to work Euro DX mobile with 100 watt rig (6' QD mast raised over truck with KW Hustler resonator). I worked some 80m, but mostly cw there. There is a reason a majority of NTS nets are on 40M; repeaters suck when the power is removed. Daytime comms on 40M mobile-mobile are very effective. We used 40M all over the country in Belize to keep track of our teams.
  24. How serious are you about effective communications ? If serious at all, you will need seperate vhf/uhf antenna(s), and HF. Do you have a topper on the truck (fiberglass or metal)? On the HF antenna, for best results you need to frame mount a mast (and raise the antenna above the bed), and RF-bond the truck. You can rig any number of detachable/adjustable/lowering mounts. Here is but one source of ideas. http://www.k0bg.com/antmount.html At one time, I had 9 antenna mounts on my truck, including three Hustler QD mounts for HF, and a fourth mast holding 4 halos. My friend, K4IDC in Mt Juliette had a tiltable mounting system operated by a 12VDC screw jack on his Dodge diesel. It would tilt 90 degrees for parking in garages, etc.
  25. Irrelevant and unrelated really. While obviously in hind sight a poor choice of the selection process, the other five recipients did not shoot up theaters. This guys actions are solely and squarely a product of his own twisted mind. Not his parents, not the government, nor the village.
