I see differences in flattening between brands and type on my .223 & .204. I have had pretty good luck on the Wolf/Tula & CCI primers, and especially using magnum or 223 primers (as compared to Federal 205, for instance). So, play around a bit.

What primers are you using ?

  Widen the angle a bit more.   As you put it earlier, it is a monarchy. Look at Ephesians 4:17-19.  For a Christ-follower, through scripture, the  King of Kings declared it a closed system (vs 18 "because they have closed their minds").    They are indeed open to input, only as long as it is agreeable. In that, non-believers have commonality with believers, except believers have foundation by some specifics in the Word (for example 1 Corinthians 6:9-11). Not sure where the non-believers get their foundation.  Certainly not Islam, Judaism, or Christianity.    <and wow, Bert can't spell tonight! -edits >

Just thinking....in reality, the second law of thermodynamics is in full force on this, and many other issues we would not normally connect to it.    We are biological construct, of energy and matter.  It is required that entropy always increases.    Thus, as with all systems, we continue to fall apart and decay at an ever increasing rate.   Over time, although we may become more efficient, experienced and knowledgeable, and may stave off temporal effects (i.e. death), in the end, we must still devolve, not evolve.   No surprise.  We are just one of many societies and empires to crumble.

The grease may be too heavy, but more importantly, make sure that shaft has plenty of *light* oil on it (perhaps penetrating or Kroil).  On mine, it is now loose enough that a mild downward whack with the palm of my hand will disengage (brace the bottom of hand grip against your thigh, knee or other surface when whacking). Then, with pressure still applied, I rotate my wrist to flip the hinge.    I was like you, looking for the button model, until I got the right lube in the right places    Hope this helps in the interim until you find the new one.

  Have you put a coat of lube on the Ace hinge ?  Mine is *much* easier with Rem Oil on all the contact surfaces (on the spring too)

Considering the deep egg-shell foam in my cases, I could also see pressure against the trigger in certain situations.   Bottom line...rifle was stored loaded, and transported or  and handled in an unsafe condition.
