  1. followup to my earlier post - One of the advantages of Trail-Boss for reduced loads is that the case is filled to ~70% or more capacity, reducing the effects of orientation    http://www.imrpowder.com/PDF/Trail-Boss-data.pdf has a suggested load for .30-06.  I have tried these in several calibers.  They work pretty well. I keep a few cans of TB around just for this.
  2. Search the innerdwebs for reduced recoil loads using TrailBoss
  3. My habits do not vary with pistol or rifle.  I move around a bit, but mostly traverse from stand to stand.   The one I killed last fall with pistol was while walking, but I move painfully slow in the woods.
  4. I have only listened to news clips, but am convinced this congregation has had a clarion call and urgently needs to fall on their knees, pray, and cry out for healing, and not get up off of their knees until it happens.      2 Chronicles 7:14 - "Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land."
  5. and is inherently more accurate.
  6. The Walther P22 I have was finicky the first few hundred rounds, but did feed CCI Mini-Mag.  Now, it eats about anything, but prefers to be well lubricated.  I have run at least 3-4K rounds through it, mostly Federal 550 bulk pack.
  7.   edit -    As of a month or so back, (I thought....) he was still listed on the FFL database at ATF.  I think Earl Austin III is his son   son?  At some point I think there was multiple licenses, does not seem so now.  Just see the one (E.A. III) at quick glance.
  8. ^^^^  Yeah, sounds a bit out of character for Mike.  He is certainly enthusiastic (or exuberant), but not hateful or evasive.
  9. Just take the money and run.  If he really wants the gun, he'll chase you down.   Which reminds me...never take money from a friend.
  10. Maybe they will follow up with dinner and a cigarette.
  11. Thanks for input from all.   Of the two choices available, I have selected (and "ordered") the 32 GB WiFi Note.   It was either a tablet or a fish-finder. No tires, gas cards, or rice & beans, guns & ammo were available.   Thanks for helping me decide!   B.
  12. Maybe....a big red-dot. I have thought about that. I did try a pistol scope and just could not get eye relief right.
  13. I use a Super Redhawk in .44 Mag with open sights.    You young guys might be able to use a pistol scope, but I sure can't.    Last season, killed a deer at 80 yards.  Flipped it completely over end to end.  Plenty of power.   When deer hunting, I don't even carry a long gun any more.   B.
  14.   Looks like the Samsung Note 10.1 will upgrade to 4.1
  15. Turns out I am on credit card points awards program (never paid myuc attention to it) and can get stuff .   I am looking at a Samsung tablet.   Usage will be routine alternate to my netbook equipped with MS Office ware. I do have a Samsung Galaxy Proclaim phone (Android 2.3 Gingerbread) that I am happy with.     between these two choices (the ones offered by the program)- Which is better choice?   - Samsung® Galaxy Tabâ„¢ 2 WiFi® 10.1-Inch   or   - Samsung® Galaxy Noteâ„¢ 10" 32GB WiFi Tablet Kit  ?   Both are the same price in "points"   Thanks,   Bert
  16. Saw where CNN revealed Z's Social Security number.
  17. This last fall, I was about 6 feet away from my buddy, who got crotch-sniffed (literally) by a very small / ~30+ lb doe (no spots)   He had said - "Bert, show me how to find deer!" , so I did.    He was absolutely still for the ~30 second encounter.  The deer did not spook until he cracked up and smiled at it.
  18.     Sort of, but with very wide margin of error.   Qualitative, more than quantitative.   Someone out there has to have postulated on this.   B.       S
  19. Andrew,   what are the risk probabilities for mistrial, hung jury, and other technical outcomes ?   What are probabilities for re-file by state in the event of anomalous outcome?   It seems to me that as "screwed up" as this appears to be for the state, some technical sleight of hand may suddenly take place to avoid a downright acquittal (and ensuing publicity chaos).   Bert
  20. Andrew,   who is in charge of re-inserting your eyeball?    I am not a lawyer, but I suspect eyeballs are popping in every law office in the country, expecially for you guys that are legal analysts....   (on both sides...)
  21. Regardless of what  you think about Ms. Jeantel, she is smart enough to realize that your social medial sites has to be clean during interviews with prospective employers.  :shake:   http://www.thesmokinggun.com/documents/crime/zimmerman-witness-gets-twitter-scrub-748092
  22. A single-stage press (or perhaps heavy turret) is indeed the most popular way to craft the larger bottleneck cartridges.    I don't have .270 Win dies, but do have .30-06 tooling (same case, different neck diameters).    If you or your dad wants to drop by, I will be glad to spend a few  hours explaining & demonstrating.    I am on the west side of Clinton, about a mile from the Gun Doctor shop     B.
  23. When you ask them a question, you are wasting time wrestling with an oinker.  All you end up is feeling muddied and frustrated.   Just *tell* them *your* opinion, and be thankful the email doesn't bounce.   Better yet, do it on facebook so his staffer has to review it for derogatory content (instead of just ignore it).
  24.   If it's Bud, It ain't beer.  So no problem there.   As for destruction and/or anhilation of frogs, I'm in, regardless of method.
