  1. nah. Just broadcasting themselves over ~20,000 square miles. They *do* apparently lack a license to operate there, and annoy the **** out of the thousand or so other system users. They can get a license very easily. Info found at http://www.arrl.org/exam_sessions/search
  2. Well, it seems we have a small infestation of preppers. I always thought they liked to operate in the shadows and avoid attention - but these *idiots* blundered into the input of a 250-mi range repeater system. Wow. How to avoid attention - 1. get a ham radio call-sign, 2. stay out of system inputs. Y'all preppys out there might want to figure that out. * - no, preppers in general are not idiots. Just the ones I am speaking of. Turns out even it they are illegal, dumb as rock, and broadcasting over 1/3 of Tennessee, Kentucky, and North Carolina - their fellow brethren who are licensed/legal in ham radio do not like for them to be called idiots. (and certainly let me know today, a few dozen times on a radio forum)
  3. The speedometer on the motorcycle said 48 when the rider looked to check. To pass, that bike was doing ~55
  4. Please tell me this was Maynardville HWY and not Oak Ridge.
  5. Any feedback on this issue? Thanks, B.
  6. I get that too on my Samsung 10.1 Note tablet using Android. Just started recently.
  7. I drove up about 20 times last year, and lived there for ~ 6 mo during the time. Carry plenty of change for the ****ing toll-booths. And - figure out the I-Pass website because even if you don't blow one... they will invariably have the booth closed. Just grab one of the paper info-slips that has the booth # (next to the "change catcher"). Carry a pistol safe / lock-box in order to move the (unloaded) gun from the car to the hotel. For the record...there is no decent way to travel by car from TN to Chicago. Every single route sucks, and they vary by the day in suckability. First time in, I would suggest I-65 to I-80, then slip in behind a big truck and stay there. Least traffic - 3am - 4am. If you can use I-355, it is worth the $. For the record, I cannot remember losing a thing in IL that I need to go retrieve.
  8. OK then. I seem to have warped in time back to 6th grade. Are we going to continue on in juvenile sexual innuendo to maybe say gun barrels & wood decks? I see my block list growing.
  9. KnoxRag reported that Knoxville had ~100 protesters on downtown Gay Street today - defacto supporting the Dallas shooting...
  10. This is at least the second, if not the third time Sam has opined in this orientation. Sad. I loved his wit since childhood.....before he decided to politik.

Then chamfer a 38 brass to sharp edge. Tap base with mallet to cut. Do 3 or 4 and then push out of case using a bamboo skewer stick through primer hole.

  17. Your (our) Windoze 10 still has Internet Explorer.  "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe". It still works on TGO.
  18. It's a tough lesson, but any round that you do not have complete and absolute confidence - pull it apart.   I have learned the hard way also.   You will be fine.   Just refine your process.
  19. repost. deleted. sorry.
  20.           Either of you guys -  I listen to, and value opinion.   Now - my question - if the forces of a bolt slamming to & fro don't damage an extension, can Bert's puny efforts succeed?
  21. and just posted on FB -   (remember... it's Facebook......)
  22.   Bellevue is large, but several churches in Knoxville & Nashville are about the same in attendance (~5000 - 7000 avg weekly).  The large one I attend would watch carefully, but unless provoked, not invoke the Sherriff's officers on scene (who are contracted to provide off-duty uniformed security via local SD).   I have noted a OC, and the occasional "peek-a-boo viewing", and -   I would not be surprised at all to learn of several folder-rifles & AR/or AK pistols in backpacks in attendance during our services.      Hopefully, as several have noted, the detention was far more than just the carry aspect.
  23. We use the standard SPOT & subscription for my dad when he is afield.  We set it to 10 minute reporting, and it is very good.
