  1.   no good without ammo. Non-residents cannot have FOID.   How can I legally transport ammunition? Illinois law requires that residents possessing ammunition must have a valid FOID card. To transport an unloaded, uncased firearm with ammunition immediately accessible is a Class 4 Felony. The location of ammunition being transported, including ammunition being transported in loaded magazines, is not regulated as long as the firearm is unloaded and encased, and the resident possessing the firearm holds a valid FOID card.   OK, then... visitors or traveling through.....    IF A NON-RESIDENT IS VISITING ILLINOIS, HUNTING, OR TRAVELING THROUGH WITH A FIREARM, HOW DO THEY LEGALLY TRANSPORT IT? Non-residents must be legally eligible to possess or acquire fi rearms and ammunition. Non residents are not required to have an Illinois FOID Card. It is recommended that in order to be in compliance with all statutes, non-residents transport all fi rearms: 1. broken down in a non-functioning state; or 2. not immediately accessible; or 3. unloaded and enclosed in a case, fi rearm carrying box, shipping box, or other container.
  2. I (sort of) live in Chicadishu, and mostly work here.   Best I can tell, an out of state permit isn't worth crap (as confirmed by several IL firearms course instructors & ILSRA).      And... an out-of-state non-resident *cannot* apply for IL permits (with the exception of 3-4 states, TN NOT included). A. Gura / SAF has a lawsuit filed on that since Nov 2014.   My advice.... stay the **** out of IL.      B.
  3. I drive a 1990 Toyota CrapWeasel.  It's hard to give up something that just keeps on running.

    Papa Johns

"Papa Johns never intended to offend anyone when rolling out the no firearms policy. In Oct 2014, a 21 year old shift leader in Columbia, Tn was robbed at gun point of which ended fatally. At that point Papa John's decided to promote the safety of their team members in the attempt to deter theft and violence."   Maybe I'm just tired, but my brain just exploded at that attempt of logic.
  5. Call Dave Ramsey. Fast.     (Lord, forgive me.  That was awful.)
  6. It grows to 17', and eats Chihuahuas like tater-tots.
  7. And if the above do not fix, try a Small-Base sizer.  I have had to do that a few times.

  9.     The one whom I allowed to marry me keeps it detailed.  No rain spots allowed.   And I did err.  She backs it out of the garage, not I.
  10. dead nuts on.   They are not even in the same class.   That said,  I need one of the Savages.

  15. Hang in there.  When he puts the harmonica down, it will be a lot worse.   I once hugged my grandfather.  He freaked out because he did not know who I was.   B.
  16. Go ahead and get a license (for the call-sign).  It's real easy, cheap, and quick..  Then, you will have someone to talk to (no, it won't be 'who cares" on that radio. Old ham habits are hard to break).   But you are right.  In life or death emergency, no call-sign is needed,  However, ... cooperation is.....
  17.   Yaesu HT's are usually pretty good. That's the quadband.  My buddy has one and is very happy with it.   If it is in your budget, don't hesitate.   You are licensed, right?  (I don't remember all the ham ops here).   Bert - K4AR

  20. 45guy, I am also saddened to hear of such a gut-wrenching loss.  Not in this way, but I lost my best friend rather quickly and prematurely about 15 years ago.  Even thinking about it right now takes my breath away.
  21. If you have to ask those questions here, then you already know the answer.   I would suggest a smoother start to this forum.
  22. No, (it's Straight-Talk)   But I also have to use the phone when on-line (and not necessarily in the same proximity)
  23. HI all,   doing a bit of travel.   I need a mobile WiFi connection or something (not a card, multiple devices will connect at times)     SO, from a technical perspective (work pays for half), what is a better choice in regards to speed & security?   Thanks,   Bert
  24. provider?  Even if they actually cover, future customers should be cognizant of this philosophy, and prepare for less than stellar support by the provider. (not that it is unusual within the industry....)
  25. Dang.  Spending too much time in Chicadishu the last few weeks.  I missed a lot.
