  1. I bet the chickens were more disturbed by the gunfight than the possum !
  2. Considering I have picked up 300+ .38 Spl and ~100 .357 in the last two weeks.....I doubt it. The others were 500 - 1500 rounds (a half wheelbarrow load all total this last week).Reloaders, and want to be reloaders are the exception. Most folks at the range dump their brass (and noodlers like me snatch it up), or worse, shooters put it in the box, and then dump it in the garbage (picked a few boxes out). SO, .38 & .357 may be on the list, but are much lower usage rate than the others, maybe 1/3 to 1/2 that of .45 ACP.
  3. Check state regs, I think relocation (i.e. trap then release) of nuisance widlife is not permitted. They have to be destroyed & disposed.
  4. You may own, and listen without a license, but under no circumstances are allowed to transmit without a amateur license. There are no exceptions for disaster, etc. Anyone, with a class license with sufficient priviledges may operate any amateur radio (even if owned by you). As easy as the license are to obtain, it should not be an issue. BTW, it is illegal for a ham radio operator to communicate with a non-licensee on the ham bands (and most ops will ignore). At a very few times, armed forces stations have had special permission granted by their command *and* the FCC, but generally they operate split-frequency and each service transmits in its own proper band. Hope that helps.
  5. Hunting From aStationary Vehicle On private property, hunting while in or on avehicle that cannot be legally licensed to operateon public highways in Tennessee (ORV,ATV) is permitted providing that the vehicleis stationary (engine may be running). Huntingfrom any vehicle, stationary or otherwise,is prohibited from a public road, right-of-way or on public property, including WMAs.

  7. in order of popularity, based on what I pick up (or see at the range; picked up ~10K this year)... .22LR 9mm Lugar .40 S&W 7.62x39 .223 Rem .45ACP The rest are just in the noise level.

    .357 Sig ?

You may be on to it. Both of the ranges I picked brass at today are heavily frequented by PDs & SDs. After a few searches, It looks like it is reasonably reloadable.

    .357 Sig ?

wcsc12, since you are local, pm your email & phone#. I should be able to help out on the .40 brass (just pay it forward). I am between Clinton & Oak Ridge. Bert

    .357 Sig ?

I pick up brass at several different ranges. This year, I have recovered a lot of .357 Sig, much more than last several years. Today, I could have picked up 200-300. Is it increasing in popularity ? Is it better/cheaper/etc than .40 S&W (pick up a lot of that too) ? Is it even reloadable ?
  11. I hit a live possum (the Pogo one) on my motorcycle a few years ago. That was bad enough. I sure don't want to hit a Hoover Hog. They probably dont go squish so easily, and that nasty "jumping" they do has to be hard on a biker....

    MADE!

I was "made" one time at Home Depot. Had my Glock 26 under a jacket. High school girl walked up, and with a big grin on her face, made some hand gestures pointing at my belt, and silently mouthed some words....about three times. I knowingly smiled and nodded each time, and adjusted my jacket. She walked off, and I went on shopping for another half hour, then checked out. When I climbed into the truck, I realized my zipper was down, and my tighty-whiteys were flagging. That folks, is how to keep them from seeing your gun!
  13. Did anyone notice that Armadillo hunting is no longer permitted in TN ? They were in last years regs, but not the new one. B.
  14. As an aside, Coyote attack (on a pet) reported in E. Knox Coyote attack on young dog causes Knoxville woman to caution neighbors » Knoxville News Sentinel
  15. politics, micromanagement, mistrust.
  16. looks like it applies to rifles only.So I think you have to have a big game stamp (or Sportsmans License) during big game season to hunt coyote with a CF, but the note on archery equipment only refers to using broadheads. However, the WMAs regs may require a BG stamp even to be in the area for any type of hunting.
  17. Yeah, it's free for me, but I still have to take time, and make trip for a permit that either should have been automatically added, or included in the Sportsman License to begin with. It will have to wait on the next grocery trip to wally world, otherwise would cost $4 in gas alone. Bureaucracy at its best.
  18. Just curious, When selling surplus spent brass to a scrap yard, do you normally have to deprime it ? Bert
  19. Unbelievable. So much for a Sportsman license. Now I have to go back to Walmart get my free type 07 to hunt dove (although page 22 does not list type 07 migratory permit, only the type 06.....) I am dizzy again.
  20. I love this one on page 47 trying to explain WMA rules... (and contradicts itself) Looks like you can shoot crow anytime (.i.e. also Monday-Thursday as WMAs are open during weekdays on state open hunts) during big game season with a centerfire, but not during small game seasons (when page 22 applies) "A camel is a horse designed by committee......."
  21. I noticed that too. Good for them. But the stupid migratory bird law still applies to crows, so can hunt only on Friday-Sunday.
  22. Code is no longer required at all.
  23. OK, I am getting dizzy <again>, or wd-40, was that comment "not this year" regarding hogs ? On coyote & groundhogs, All,If you do, or do not believe centerfire can be used, what page# are you referencing, and are you discussing private or public lands ? I look at it, and see - - Looking at the chart on page 18, top of page infers statewide and presumedly private lands (notes exception at top of page for WMAs.) - row 1, column #6, furbearers, note 4 includes coyote and groundhogs. - row 5, column #6, yes (to CF), notes 1 big gsame permit req. *during* big game season, note #5 daylight hours - page 20, column 1, 3rd para - coyote and groundhog open year round, no limit please elaborate on perceived exclusions (other than WMAs & big game season) B.
  24. And in the other thread, someone made a excellent suggestion - Always start packing for travel with an *empty* bag.
