  1. This thread has plenty of life and entertainment value left. According to the Ridger, Chief Akagi last Monday has promised an internal investigation, including taking a statement from the "victim".
  2. Anyone who watches StarTrek knows that you beam in with weapons drawn level and pointed in a random direction (so the monster can surprise you, but not with completely overwhelming odds...), and you never stand next to the guy in red.
  3. ahhhhh. I got it! It was a random drive-by gun sale! Officers whip out weapons - "Hey buddy, you wanta good deal onna dissa gat ?" "its a fo-tay"! Potential Client - "no thanks, I'm busy chatting with ex at 911" They just need to brush up on their presentation skills, maybe hold tupperware parties
  4. In the Tennessean, Dr. Glenn Reynolds weighs in on last week's story - Record check an ineffective nuisance | The Tennessean | tennessean.com
  5. How about closer to exit 122 area ? Me, well I have no $, but plenty of cheap time, and know some about how to file for FFL (have C&R). Also know a young FFL there that may be interested in participating. Bert
  6. Well, you know that guns used in crimes are rarely purchased at gunshows; but now we are aware of the apparent gunshow rip-off loophole.....
  7. Some of the TWRA ranges are shut down during certain hunts (maybe some due to WMA access control, others due to safety issues during the hunts)
  8. Not cheap, but looks fun - Rossi Rio Grande
  9. hmmmmm.... perhaps an TBI audit of returns from the evidence storage is in order ? This sort of sounds like an endemic "trick", not one-off. edit - it's too stupid of a scheme to pull off without long term committed assistance.
  10. I sent a letter to my Representative, John Ragan
  11. my point is more about comparatively decent coverage from the KNS, which frankly surprised me. regardless of how it is interpreted, please do not use my opinion to slam Mr. Haas.
  12. Search for Fast and Furious, BATFE, BATF, ATF, GunWalker, Darrel Issa all pretty much void of Fast and Furious, although Bloomberg stuff shows up when searching "BATFE" on the Tennessean (one of only two links). New York City says investigators bought guns illegally in Nashville | In Session Did the same searchs on the Knox News Sentinel; turns up all sorts of stuff. After comparing...I now feel a bit compelled to back off (slightly) my critical view of KNS. Here is the last story KNS did by search of "Fast and Furious" (Lots of Fast & Furious stuff shows up searching for "ATF" also) Republican: Heads must roll in Fast and Furious » Knoxville News Sentinel My opinion of Editor Jack McElroy has increased.
  13. I will note that many Starbucks products are also found on grocery store shelves. I think I'll get a package of the Keurig K-cups. Easy way to contribute that day even without darkening the door of a coffeeshop.
  14. another story, from Elle Magazine - Should I Buy a Gun? - A Crime Victim Considers a Controversial Means of Protection - ELLE.com
  15. "Unanimous" in of itself is historic.
  16. K4AR here.
  17. Seems like I recall Mr. Haas making a point a few days ago that it was all about web hits and keeping an "issue" alive. Should have seen this coming.
  18. Invoking or extending *any* sales verification system will be paid for by you and I, either as a taxpayer (fees or indirect), or as customer (on a privatized system), in order to pay for computer infrastructure, database management, and operators, etc.
  19. Is it threaded ? Put a hex head screw in it.
  20. Assuming non-TEOTWAWKI and TWRA regs are still in place, the .40 carbine (centerfire), during deer season, is legal to use, as opposed to the .22 Mag (rimfire).
  21. ^^^^^ This. A 30/70 article at best. Where was TFA ? There were some strong points in this forum. With the exception of Mr. Adams story (which you overwhelmingly countered), I could not recognize any of them. There no hint of the "straw purchase" aspects.
  22. David, I think you just won the Inter-webs!
  23. as well as crow, and sparrow-on-a-toothpic appetizers.
  24. If you are all coming from Jacksboro, I would suggest the TWRA range off of Exit 141, turn right to Flatwoods Road (just before the Industrial Park). First left past the ATV parking lots. Other than the porta-potty, it is largely the same as Norris, and "free" with a small game license or WMA use permit. Not nearly as much shooting traffic as at Norris. B.
  25. Curious, If you know, who won the match, and who were the runners up ? (and what were they using?)
