  1. Kwik to the rescue ?
  2. Well shucks, pull up a seat!
  3. In other news, unaffected by doom and gloom of looming ammo shortages, Bert reloaded a few rounds he needed.
  4. I experienced one, not admitting about one, and know one. All which have taught me how little I know about guns. (despite having a fair understanding of Osmosis)
  5. Hard, harder when stupid. Evidence - Stupid on Toast http://www.knoxnews.com/news/2012/feb/27/police-maryville-man-shot-as-friend-twirled-gun/
  6. a bit o' basic research before publishing a question would go a long ways.... http://www.knoxnews.com/news/2012/feb/27/letters-paper-should-report-if-guns-registered/ "registry...what registry?"
  7. awful choice. I'll trade you a P22 for it just to relieve your anguish
  8. David, when is your next visit to Knoxville area ?
  9. This is a class act. We would not otherwise have known of the link to you. My thoughts was that Lyman would make it good anyway, but it is really cool to see you pop up and proactively intervene. A man, as good as his word, and more.
  10. BTW, early voting in Anderson County ends tomorrow. Vote Early, Vote'em Out.
  11. Received this back from Ron Ramsey, Lt. Gov. (and leader of the TN Senate)
  12. Here is the Senate Judiciary web page. Click on the members and you will see contact info including email address. http://www.capitol.tn.gov/senate/committees/judiciary.html
  13. I sent this to the Senate Judiciary Committee members, with copies to my local legislators, Gov. Haslam, Lt. Gov Ramsey, Speaker Harwell, and a number of friends.
  14. I wonder if this guy has barking dogs ? Neighbors around me shoot when they want too (and so do I). So I hear gunfire a few times a week up or down the road. The dogs however...... Every one of my neighbors and I talk well enough to request cease-fire at bedtime if needed. Obviously these folks were set up and shooting safely...Old guy just complained about noise.
  15. and ...there are conversions. Just because. http://www.twistedindustries.net/products/ (had to toss this one in. On my list) http://www.advantagearms.com/
  16. I own a Walther P22. The P22 is decently accurate, and a fine plinker to 30-40 yards or so, sometimes with luck, a decent squirrel hunting gun, But it is not in the class of Mark II/III, nor as customizable. That said, for goofing off, I like the P22 better (lighter, handles nice). Back when the P22 was $225 at Gander MTN, it was a real deal. Now, at current prices, not so much. Don't overlook the Magnum Research Mountain Eagle http://www.gunslot.c...tain-eagle-22lr (no longer made). I am astounded by the gun's performance and handling (especially for a composite), so don't arbitrarily pass that up if you see adecent price.
  17. I don't go to malls. It is just not worth the effort (besides, its so "'80s". Surely better economic models are to be had). Even JC Penny's in Knoxville is getting it. Their newest store near Turkey Creek is stand-alone. Now if the developers could figure out better traffic management for economic areas like Turkey Creek. Even that is at my limit.
  18. unfortunately, our neighbors dogs generally just howl mostly out of boredom (and are routinely bored) . There are probably 4-5 pockets of dogs, and one pack will set off several others. It is too easy to dismiss them to consider them for security purposes. If they were trained better, exercised and played with more, perhaps. For this neighborhood, It is all-out, or nothing, and no real threat correlation to the dog's responses.
  19. Several have mentioned Hunter Education. Because you were born after 1969 (per your profile), you need to pay attention to this - http://www.state.tn....a/huntered.html You will eventually need to get a hunter education certificate (in addition to license), although a 1-time exception (Type 012) permit is available (good for one season).
  20. curious....Wonder why the "green light" ? Just looked. Shows him "last active" 9:28pm, less than 30 minutes ago.
  21. Because of this thread, my interest piqued, I looked at his profile. It showed him "on-line" (green light & all) ten minutes ago.............
  22. #14 - regs - http://www.eregulations.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/11TNHD_FINAL_LR.pdf page 16 - general carry of handgun, year-round, in WMA, requires HCP Page 18 - chart, lays out criteria for HUNTING with hand gun
  23. I have a new hero.
  24. Hmmm... I think I'll buy a few shares in Ruger. Who else is publically traded & strong growth?
