  1. Hey Dave what is a good tanning kit I could get. Also how long do you let the pelt dry and what kind of salt do you use.
  2. I agree I wouldn't just kill something I could eat to use for bait only.
  3. They actually make a coyote bait that comes in a bag. Looks like one of those bags for deer attractants. Wildgame innovations makes it, it's called predator pile. I've never used it just seen it in a magazine.
  4. Let's all settle down (myself included). Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and has the right to say what they want to change. Some things I agree on and some things I don't. Let's just play nice.
  5. You just let me know when and where to meet you. Think I will go and pattern my shotgun with different loads this week.
  6. I still disagree with you on the 223 or 243 not being an effective round. Like I said I have taken deer with both rounds and I have never had an issue. I will continue to use them both. If you think muzzleloaders should be in the rifle class then they should have a spear season. I think if the cave men had a muzzleloader or rifle they would have used it. I don't muzzleloader hunt that often but I don't want to see it die off. I just don't see how it's cheating and if it is, you should sell all of your weapons and kill with your bare hands.
  7. I don't blame you. You should set up and call around it. You never know.
  8. The time is right for them to find or make a den so yeah this could be a den site.
  9. It appears to be a den of some sort. Coyotes will find a den site during mating season (which is going on right now) to have their pups. Not sure if they go back to the same one. I guess it depends on if they are pressured in an area then move on. Coyotes will make dens in small caves, rock ledges and I have heard people even say they will dig out fox dens and take them over. Did you find any coyote track around it? if so setup close to it and call. After they have their pups they will be guarding the den both the male and female.
  10. wd you seriously need to take me hog hunting.
  11. Awesome!!!! I'm with ya on the predator and turkey hunting as be the favorites.
  12. I took my daughter out last year coyote hunting with me and all that came to the call was a fox. It wasn't fox season but she yelled out "daddy look it's a fox". Well it ran off and she was so sad that she scared it off. She is 6 years old by the way. I told her it was o.k and she told me that she would be quiet next time. Well I took her out again and man she was quiet as a mouse. I gave her the binoculars and told her to be my look out. We didn't see anything but we did mess with some crows and she had so much fun. I even let her try out one of my mouth calls.
  13. I'm excited this year. I have 5 farms loaded with turkeys and some real nice ones to. If anyone is wanting to go with me they are more than welcome, I'm not greedy. It would make me just as happy if I took someone and they killed a turkey.
  14. When I tan it I am going to have to cut the head part off due to the damage from the bullet. It should still look nice though.
  15. You can see how the tracks are in a row. I'm going to say it's coyote.
  16. The reason I asked if you had a foxpro I have over 150 sounds we could share.
  17. It looks like a coyote track. If you find more look at the track pattern. A coyote's track will be straight there back paws will leave a track right in front of the front paw track. A dogs track will be side by side.
  18. That's what hunting should be about, having a great time making memories. Great story!.
  19. Alright I'm done complaining ha ha. Here some pics after I skinned her.
  20. I also use hand calls. Setting up an e-caller is not that big of an issue with me. In my last post I edited it and added what I asked the game warden about it. Also the warden said they were more concerned if you had actual fox sounds on the unit like gray fox distress etc. which I do not.
  21. I was calling for coyotes not fox's. I had the caller on mute when it came running in. It seen my decoy and that's what he went after. I think it's a fine line when using e-callers. 99% of the time I am hunting coyotes. If a fox comes in and it is in season and legal to shoot I am going to shoot it. This is another contradicting TN law that doesn't make sense. I have had this discussion with a game warden and I asked him If I killed a fox while I was coyote hunting and it was in season, how would you prove I was not just calling for fox's. He told me he couldn't and he agreed that the law was stupid. Besides when I call for foxes I use the Griz-n-Gray hand call, works better than any sound on an e-caller.
